Any other time turned him into a blushing fool, but right now, all Ron could think about was giving his stomach what it wanted. He took more sweets out of the box than he should have, but he figured Hermione would expect him to. He unwrapped a Cauldron Cake, took a very large bite and moaned with pleasure. Ron waited for Hermione to eat something, but when it seemed like she would not partake in the pastries, he frowned. He had the sense to finish chewing before he asked, “Aren’t you going to eat anything?” Ron really did not care all that much because he was not the type of person to be deterred because the other person would not eat. Ron Weasley was hungry. Food was available. Ron Weasley would eat. To prove this point, he took another bite of his cake, this time without a moan of pleasure, but still with a look of utter bliss upon his face. “I know you read a lot of books; I watch,” Ron said with a raised eyebrow at her, wondering if maybe she thought he did not know her after all of these. However, he realized too late that he sounded like a stalker Ron knew that he sounded pathetic at the moment, so he shrugged again, “Well… you don’t take Muggle Studies.” He never really thought before how much time they spent together. Even when they refused to speak to each other, they saw each other practically every day. They had Potions, Transfiguration, Charms, History of Magic, Herbology, Astronomy, and Care of Magical Creatures together. They just could not avoid each other, “Really, it’d just be two more classes. There would hardly be a difference. And maybe I’d find out what the heck Ancient Runes and Arithmancy are. I just know they’re really hard and to not ever complain about our workload because you always have so much more than me and Harry.” Ron grinned cheekily. He always loved when Hermione had more work than he did. It gave him a chance to finish his homework before she would, but that has never happened, and probably never would. But there was a chance that he would finish before her. A chance was better than nothing. As Hermione said how much she did, Ron lost the smirk, but instead, he just nodded, “I reckon you do too much, Hermione.” This time there was no smile. He was completely serious. Sometimes he worried that Hermione would crack, and when Hermione cracked, she usually was a bucket of tears, which made Ron very nervous. Although if she hugged him this time, he would not mind so much. And then Ron went too far. Ron’s blue eyes grew large and he held his hands up defensively, trying to protect himself from the Wrath of Hermione. What did he say? It was fine when she was mad when he knew what he did wrong, but when he didn’t, he didn’t know how to help. Well, honestly, Ron never knew how to help. He liked knowing what he did though. He tried to talk his way out of a fight, now that everything was going so well, “I know you could pull off a prank, Hermione, I’m just not used to you trying. I know you could do it all by yourself, but, you know, if you need any help, I’ll help. But you don’t need help, of course. I’m not saying you need someone. If you want help, I’m here.” Ron was still terrified, but he felt that maybe that sounded right. Maybe she would forgive him. He hoped that she would not want his help though because he did not want her to start yelling at him again for saying the wrong thing. Ron joked. It was what he did.
