The wizarding world has one constant through all of its trials and troubles: Magic. Magic served through the founding of Hogwarts, and survived through the witch hunts of the middle ages. Even in battles between the Death Eaters and the Order of the Phoenix, the spells they used were their one constant. No one thought much of it, after all, magic was just there. Until one person thought “But what if it weren’t?”
In these chaotic times, there are two enemies at work. One enemy is a shadow, an unknown personage who pulls the strings behind the scenes, all with one goal in mind: chaos. And to get that, she uses the Shadowstealer, a device that disrupts and steals magic, spawning magic-hungry demons in its wake. She has already used one agent for the device, an ex-cursebreaker who managed escape, his mind broken.
The other joins the game with another prize in mind: power. The Masked Mistress has been regaining her followers ascending all the way to the Minister for Magic. The power games are dangerous, and it's impossible to trust those who may be wearing a mask. But which is the mask: their visage by day, or their shadow by night?
Now the hunt is on for a sufficient successor, one with enough life energy to feed the Shadowstealer-- a student. In these chaotic and dangerous times, what will you do? You can’t use magic against the demons, and the Shadow Lady has made no demands, so what is there to do? Something needs to be done.
Where will you be when the mask comes off?
