What am I?

Well done.
I'm as well as one can be when torn between the decision to deduct a ridiculous amount of house points and just be done with it, or issue a detention and be forced in the close proximity of the dunderhead that caused the dilemma to begin with.
Yourself?

That sounds like fun. In most cases I would probably deduct points, but that's just me. What's the nature of the stupidity this time?
Though, it seems that stupid questions are at an abundance lately. 'What use is Ancient Runes?' is a common one.
I'm all right. Enjoying a short respite before I must be in a tutoring session with a smaller group of students who need the extra help. Now hopefully no one erupts into tears and runs out this time.

Well done.
Apparently the students did not receive the memo that I have CANCELED CHRISTMAS. Stupidity of the most general sort, as usual.
Oh that's always a good one. I do believe my favorite so far this week is, 'Sir, what are antidotes for?' Which would be why Pomfrey had a randomly poisoned student on Thursday.
I find it amusing that your students run out crying, and mine don't. Oh right, because the last ones who tried were hexed. Funny how word travels.

You would cancel Christmas my Grinchy co-worker, would you. Sounds pretty relevant to my general stupidity in my own classroom. Though if only more students did their work like Miss Granger, it'd make my job a tad easier. I kind of wonder if the Ravenclaws think I'm going to just hand them the answers... I expected better of my old house.

Well done.
There is no joy in those memories. Miss Granger does do an exceptional job on her work, considering the fact she follows formulas with the adherance of one who considers them canon law. She's got a great mind for retaining and regurgitating information, but she has no concept of creativity. Perhaps for the best, I daresay.
If Ravenclaw expects answers from a Professor, then that Professor is not displaying enough authority. You are too soft on them.

Not that soft. However, I'm not really fond of seriously intimidating my students, other wise they're too scared to ask for help if they really need it. Scaring teenage girls is not on my to-do list, seeing as how the vast majority of my classes are composed of them.

As charming as your methods sound, Gabriel, your attempt at subtly does not escape me. Ancient Runes is a dedicated science to be sure, but the likelihood of having a bloodied or murdered student in such a class is slim to none. Perhaps my methods are harsh, but you'll note that in my sixteen years of teaching I have not lost a single student, nor seen a one of them hospitalized. A far cry from Slughorn, let alone his predecessor. Not to mention those who make it to my N.E.W.T. class and beyond tend to be among the more notable brewers of the age. Question my harsh ways as you like, but one cannot deny that in potions they provide nothing more than results.
Ancient Runes is an old Druid practice that was commonly followed by females, if I recall correctly. Perhaps an explanation is that the science itself merely calls more to the feminine side of the spectrum. Or perhaps it is merely a matter of who teaches the subject.
