LILITH grinned lightly as she walked into the classroom, rather early as it were. There were few students to be seen filling the cold, wooden chairs of the potions classroom, all of whom were either Slytherin or Ravenclaw students. This was to be a first and third year class, and in an attempt to keep up with her later year-piers, Lilith had spent her free-time reading her potions book. If there was any class that being overachieving would pay off in, she had been told this was the one. Taking a seat in the far right, front of the classroom, Lilith pulled her sack of supplies onto the table quietly. Professor Snape, a man she knew she would idolize very soon, was very plainly ignoring the incoming students. This was probably a very wise move, being as it may that many of the Slytherins were being rather loud.
As the students finished filing in, Professor Snape began the class. His way of teaching became apparent fairly quickly: prove yourself or become stepped on. It wasn’t something Lilith particularly minded. The examinations were passed out quickly, in which time she had pulled out a quill and ink, her potions book already on the table and open towards the front. Once she had the paper, Lilith glanced at the first question, slowly closing her book at the same time. A memory of her sister exclaiming about bezoar and how useful must be when she was tutoring Lilith came into mind. Silently the girl went to work, writing the answers to as many questions as she could, which turned out to be all four of them. The essay, however, she did not know how to answer. Being a first year, Lilith assumed it would be tolerated. Despite this, the young girl felt guilty for leaving it blank, even though it was a bonus.

Kaety was excited for her first class. She had spent all night reading her potions book when she had found out. She wanted to make sure everything was perfect. She didn't want anyone to think she was dumb and call her... that dreaded word. Despite her need to prove herself an amazing and natural witch, Kaety got lost. The staircase she had be on had moved, and left her with no idea of where she was. Kaety felt tears come to her eyes as all her plans evaporated before her. She became angry, she would not let herself cry over something so stupid. With her head held high, Kaety looked around her to find where the Grand Staircase was. She walked down the hallway, not seeing anything, turned the corner and found herself looking at the white marble stairs.
Smiling with the releif of this victory, Kaety began to rush to class. She sprinted her way down the stairs and into the dungeons. She sighed with relief as she closed the door to the dungeons behind her. She wasn't sure if she could have handled another moving staircase incident. Kaety looked around her at the damask, dark, and dingy dungeons. She found herself thanking the sorting hat for not putting her in Slytherin.
After her escapade with the stairs, finding the classroom was a peice of cake. She made it to her seat before the class had even started. She breathed a sigh of relief and made her way towards the only other Hufflepuff in the room. It was a boy. He looked nice, not like the Slytherins that were blowing raspberries at her. Hi she said sitting next to him. Is this seat taken?

It was the first time Ben was going to attend a class rubn by Severus Snape. Oh, the things he heard about that man.. none of which were pleasant or inviting. Professor Snape had been a fear of the little hufflepuff's for a while, and it was finally time to suck it up and face him. Having been wandering the corridors for quite some time, it finally occurred to Ben that the potions class was held in the dungeons. How did people remember that?! He took off down moving flights of stairs as being late for Snape's class was the last thing he wanted to do.
Thoughts began to fill his head. What if he was late? He'd get detention, which would require spending more time with the terrifying professor. He could also lost points from Hufflepuff, which would bring the already low score down to negative ranges if not stopping at nothing. He'd be hated by everyone in his House..
Practically stumbling into the room, he let out a sigh of relief, noticing that he had actually arrived before the class had started and that people were still showing up. He examined the room, trying to decide where to sit. On his way to an empty desk, he tripped on his robe and into a girl about his age. M-my fault! I'm sorry, he stuttered as his face turned red after he apologized to the Ravenclaw.
Seconds after taking his seat, another girl from his House entered. Tension was released as she walked over and asked if an adjacent seat was occupied. With a small smile, he shook his head 'no' in response. Ben, he added as an introduction. She was in his House and year, he wasn't going to let a potential friend slip away.
As soon as Professor Snape began, he could tell that it wasn't going to be an easy course for him. He sat quietly with a concentrated visage, hoping to obtain information. However instead of actually learning anything, they were given a pretest. And the fun began..
After a few torturous minutes of searching through the potions book, the first year had begun to believe he'd never find what he was looking for. He shakily approached the ominous-looking man in the front of the room and cleared his throat lightly. S-sir? I'm sorry.. but I actually haven't got a clue as to where I should be looking for these answers, he managed, almost inaudibly. The books weren't set up like normal textbooks. Even the table of contents required slight knowledge of potions, as most elements were printed by category.

Post by ASTORIA GREENGRASS on Jul 26, 2011 19:11:01 GMT -5
Astoria sat at the back of the classroom. She didn’t sit back there because she was a rebel or thought she was better than everyone else, she did it because Snape didn’t really much approve of her plan and it was awkward being up close to him. She was kind of sad that he didn’t think the plan was necessary, or that it would end very well. He was right though. If it did end badly, it might just make things worse. Then again, Astoria was going to make sure that didn’t happen. If it went smoothly, she would know what Harry was up to all the time. Bloody hell, there she went again. Calling him Harry. Either she was really getting into the plan, or she was actually starting to like him. The second choice would so not end well at all. She was going to make sure that didn’t happen.
When the work was assigned, she got out her parchment and quill, then realized she had not been paying attention. Sighing to herself, she got her book and had to look up the answers. She finished all but the essay, mainly because she actually didn’t want to take the effort to look it up and then write it. Not right now anyways. She went up and handed it in, giving Snape an awkward smile before going and sitting back down. She could not wait for class to be dismissed. [/justify][/blockquote]

Kaety smiled as the boy told her his name. Ben, she liked it. She could tell they were going to get along. Kaety she replied. It was then that the professor passed out the essay. She looked at it and smiled. She knew most of the answers already. They were in the second part of the book, the part that she had read entirely last night. Kaety was filled with joy as she answered the questions and turned them in to the proffesor.
After she had gone back to her seat, Kaety watched as Ben struggled to answer the questions. He had gone to Proffesor Snape for help, but he still seemed to be having trouble. Kaety glanced over at his paper and saw him still in the same question. She longed to help, but was worried that points would be taken away. Kaety struggled with her warring conscience, but in the end, loyalty to her newest and first friend won. She leaned slightly closer to him and whispered, barely moving her lips Try page 34, it might have almost all the answers. She smiled and winked at him, looking pointedly as his book.
