physical description: when it comes to physical appearance, alicia is in top condition thanks to her work on the quidditch pitch. well, really, she has to thank her former captain oliver wood for pushing the team as hard as he did, because her thin frame really never had a chance to sit around and gain any fat back between practises and matches. she's a taller girl, about five feet nine inches, and due to the muscle mass that currently sits on her frame, weights about one hundred and fourty pounds. her most attractive features are her long blonde hair, which she normally has pulled back out of her face for practises and potions classes, her dark brown eyes, and her smile. in fact, those are the features that she loves the most about her body, all of which sit on her thin, oval shaped face and seem to catch the attention of boys from all sides of the spectrum.

strengths:
weaknesses:
mirror of erised: famous quidditch player with someone who loves her despite her blood status
fears: dying, losing her friends, being killed because she's a muggleborn witch.
boggart: losing that boy right before her eyes
dementor: when alicia was eight years old, she was out in the yard with her dog when suddenly it started barking and took off down the road. she followed him, but not fast enough to prevent him from being struck by a passing car and left to die in the middle of the road. the next car stopped to try and help her, but her dog died in her arms as she tried to cradle his big head in her tiny lap. from that moment on, she's been terrified of getting too attatched to anything ever again in case history repeated itself and she was left alone again.
patronus: the strongest memory for alicia was actually her first day at hogwarts. being a muggleborn witch, she didn't know anything at all about being a witch, about magic or anything else. and when some of the boys on the train found out, a few of them called her a "mudblood," a name which didn't have any meaning to her at that point. but someone stood up for her, a few someone's actually, and they became the best of friends following their sorting into gryffindor house. the animal patronus that accompanies this memory is a peregrine falcon, because alicia felt like she was finally able to spread her wings and be herself with them around her.
amortentia: cinnimon, roses, bath salts
relationship status: single
personality: when she was young, alicia was always a quiet child who was singled out from the other kids in the neighborhood. they didn't like letting her play with them, and because of that she started to pull away and not bother attempting to join in their games. instead, alicia would sit at home in the living room, reading a book or playing the piano her parents had bought all those years ago but never done anything with. in retrospect, she might have appeared to be a little antisocial in nature, not really wanting to be jilted by the kids again and therefore giving up entirely on the idea of having friends her own age. instead she relied heavily on her dog and stuffed animals, the only things that really seemed to understand what the young girl was going through at the time.
but after she was accepted to hogwarts and a representative from the school came to speak to her and her parents, alicia slowly began to really find herself. now, at seventeen years old, alicia has come a long way from the shy little girl who was afraid of making friends. in truth, she's still afraid of getting too close to people after what happened to her dog, but she's a lot more open around people then ever before. quidditch has brought out a competitive nature that she never before thought she had, and thanks to the time she has spent around fred and george weasley, she has discovered a sense of humour that sometimes leaves her in stitches as she watches their antics. and in finding those good friends, she has become incredibly protective of them, even though they are the ones who spend more of their time defending her when people chose to call her a "mudblood." yes, it's lacking in originality by this point, but the word still stings when it's used because she is reminded that she isn't really as pure of a witch as some of her friends are. still, that is an insensitivity that she does her best to hide from her friends, not wanting them to see any weakness in her and therefore deem her an unworthy friend.

family:
patrick spinnet. fourty-four. lawyer. muggle
maria spinnet. fourty-two. teacher. muggle
overall history:
born on the thirteenth of march, alicia was the only child that patrick and maria would ever have to create their family. complications that arose during her mother's pregnancy and delivery made it impossible for maria to have anymore children without endangering her life once again, but the pair were perfectly happy with the little girl that now had. as muggles, they knew nothing of the wizarding world and magic, brushing some things off as freak accidents or natural disasters when they were reported in the news. in truth, many of those events, such as the finding of people dead in their homes without any apparent cause of death was done at the hand of voldemort and his deatheaters, but around the time that all of this was happening, patrick was moving his family back to london from oxfordshire. his lawfirm was getting a boost, and with his parents living out their final days in london, patrick wanted to be closer to them when they passed.
everything seemed to work out fine from the beginning. the law firm was doing well where it was opened in london, and both maria and patrick were settling into their house quite nicely with their little girl, who was by now growing into a beautiful child. but they began to notice strange things happening right around the time that alicia turned six. she didn't like to play with the other children, in fact, the other children seemed almost afraid of their little girl. they called her names and pushed her around, tripping her with their skipping ropes when she tried to join in their games. nothing she did seemed to work with them, and eventually they noticed her pull away completely. when asked how her school day was, she would give the simplest of answers before she headed into the den, where the dog was usually laying on the rug before the fireplace and the grand piano sat in front of the window. alicia was the only person who ever took an interest in the piano, which had been purchased more for decoration then it had been for actual use, so her parents allowed her to play it when she wanted.
when alicia turned eleven, she was rather startled by the fact that a man appeared at her front door, a rather old man with a white beard that was tucked neatly into his belt. he asked to speak to her parents, who quickly appeared at the door, and then proceeded to explain that alicia had never really had friends over the years because of the strange things that had happened. indeed, the other children were scared when she got angry and the drinking fountain exploded just behind her, or when the kids suddenly could not move after tying her up with the skipping ropes. and that was all because she was a witch. baffled, her father did not immediately believe the strange man sitting in his house until the coffee table burst into flames, and then was put out again with not a single marking on the table or the china. at first, alicia was totally horrified. it was bad enough that the other kids didn't like her, but if they found out that she was a witch, well....there was really no telling what they would do to her.
but things seemed to change almost overnight when alicia boarded the hogwarts express for the very first time, meeting angelina johnson, also starting her first year at hogwarts. it was there that was called a "mudblood" for the very first time, by a boy who ended up being sorted into slytherin house. and not only did angelina come to her rescue, but so did fred and george weasley, twin boys the same age as herself and angelina. it was only with the friendships of these three that alicia began to open up and finally discover that she really was alright to have friends. together the four of them were sorted into gryffindor, and there began a whirlwind of chaos that both startled and greatly amused the girl. there was never a dull moment around the weasley twins, and as soon as angelina signed her up for a quidditch tryout, alicia was happier then she had ever been in her life. and the best part was, she was actually decently good at the game.
now in her final year at hogwarts, things are not turning out all that great. the school has been taken over by a woman who works for the ministry of magic, dolores umbridge, and it's absolutely impossible to learn how to defend yourself when you're being forced to study and write notes from a book with no practical application of the magic itself. she might not be as intelligent as young miss granger, but even alicia knows this is wrong. hogwarts has been invaded, people are living in fear of voldemort's return, and since she has no reason to doubt either of them, alicia is firmly siding with dumbledore and harry on this one. but with the control the ministry has on the school, she doesn't know how long they will all last, and that terrifies her more then she'd care to admit.

secret phrase: bloody hell!
rising from her nice warm bed was perhaps the hardest part of her day, not wanting to expose her skin to the cooler air that surrounded her dormitory and those with whom she shared the space. but alicia knew that if she didn't get up, she wouldn't go out and practise like she had promised she would, which would make it impossible for her to do so later once the rest of the school finally woke up. that was the hardest part of a secret like this, the fact that she had to think clearly in order to keep it a secret. that meant not letting anyone from her large gryffindor family know, storing objects under her bed where they were out of sight, and taking care to find a place that would allow her to play without worrying that someone will walk in on her at such an early hour.
a soft moan escaped her lips as she turned in her bed, finally forcing her arms to throw back the covers from over her body and finally let the air surrounding her hit with full force, causing a small shiver to course over her pajama clad form. one hand gently rubbed the skin around her eyes to try and wake herself up as she wondered why she couldn't just give herself one saturday off, just one day to sit back and relax like everyone else. but in her head, alicia spinnet knew that if she did, she would probably fall into habit just like everyone else and start skipping out on her early morning sessions, therefore falling out of practise and losing any creative muse she might have built over the last few years.
mentally kicking herself for procrastinating, alicia sat up and stretched, allowing the kinks in her back and neck to work themselves out a little with her movements as she got to her feet and touched the icy wooden floor with her bare skin. her nerves jumped a little from the early morning shock, but still she pushed herself to grab a pile of fresh clothes out of her trunk before she headed for the shower and the hot water that beckoned to her from within the bathroom of the dormitory. being up that early at least had one perk, she thought to herself as she stepped under the stream of water. it was always nice and hot, to wake her up and take the place of the sheets that she had only just vacated. as it beaded down her body, she closed her eyes and breathed a soft sigh of contentment, bringing her hands up to gently massage the shampoo into her blonde curls and scalp. if she had to pick her favourite time of day, this would probably be it, simply because it was quiet enough for her to think without the loud, obnoxious voices of the other students to fill the castle.
but all too soon, she realized that if she wanted to get up to the owlery before everyone woke up, alicia turned off the water and quickly grabbed a towel to hold against her body for warmth. it took only a few moments for her to dry herself off completely and change into her clothes, a muggle set of jeans and a sweater of deep scarlet that boldly reflected her gryffindor pride to the eyes of anyone who might still be in the school or perhaps up at that early, ungodly hour. a quick glance in the mirror made her decide to just throw her damp locks into a messy bun, letting them dry into that stranged, crimped style that her father loved so much before she snuck back into the dormitory, carefully pulling the acoustic guitar out from underneath her fourposter bed. nobody else knew that it was there, and she intended to keep that secret to herself for the time being, lest someone else tell her father before she did.
dark eyes glanced around the dormitory carefully for any signs of movement from the others who still lay in their beds, and once she was satisfied that she had not caused any of them to stir, swiftly stepped outside and closed the door before heading down the stone steps that lead her to the common room, glad that her shoes were rather silent along all of the floor surfaces as she moved with the elegance of a ghost out the porthole and toward the steps that would lead her up to the owlery. there was no one else up yet outside of her common room either, which brought a small smile to the girl's lips as she hurried up the steps and into the place where the owls nestled down each night when they were not required for a delivery. and as usual, she took her place on the window sill, sitting with one leg to help support her guitar as she strummed softly and watched the sun begin to rise over the horizon.
