As Astoria watched Daphne walk away, she felt pretty bad. She didn’t mean to offend her or make her walk away. Of course, Daphne would never be associated, let alone talk to the people Astoria was currently with. She was quite glad to see Draco walk in and was about to wave to him, but thought better of it. When he went over and talked to Daphne, Astoria felt better. Draco always knew to say the right things. That’s was one thing she liked about being friends with him. He may be a psychotic jackass to the non-Slytherins, but to the Slytherins, he was quite the boy.
Astoria watched as Harry interacted with the twins. She wished she had friends like these in a way. Blaise was pretty fun to be around, and of course Draco. She had friends like Ron would jumped to conclusions and get mad very fast. Ones like Hermione who would think things through and give it a chance. She did not really have friends like the twins, who were smart, playful and very funny. There were seventh years though. They’ve had a lot more life experience than Tori, that was for sure.
When Harry responded to what she had asked, she decided to give it a rest. Maybe she would ask Snape later. Or maybe not. He hadn’t taken to kindly to her idea. He wasn’t going to tell anyone of course, but he was pretty much against it. She sighed, but smiled to Harry anyways. ”What have I gotten myself into?” She gave his waist a little squeeze to let him know she joking. She was at a loss for what to say, which was okay because a new situation was developed. She was suddenly pushed to the side as one of the professors, the only kissing Snape’s cheek to be precise, had just fainted on Harry. Luckily, Astoria had moved to the side. ”Harry!? Are you alright? Is Professor Avery alright?” She really had no idea what to do. [/blockquote]

Hermione watched as Ron looked at her. He did not just look, he made it as though he was staring into her soul. Was he alright? She raised her eyebrow at him inquisitively, and took a sip from her cup of punch to try and release the tension between them that she was feeling. He finally spoke, Hermione's nerves relaxing finally. Ron seemed a bit shocked that Hermione had considered dancing with him. But it was not as though dancing with someone meant you were romantically attached to them. She was not romantically attached to Viktor Krum in the previous year when they danced at the Yule Ball. "Well, if you want to dance with me, i'll dance with you." Hermione replied with a polite smile. She didn't want to give Ron the idea that she was falling madly for him, even though she was. He would laugh, and poor Hermione Granger would be set off on an unhappy trail of not being friends with Ron any longer. Ron would never let Hermione live it down. She was not telling him and that was the end of it. Ron finally took the cup from her, and she let her hand rest down by her side. He did not drink from it, which Hermione was surprised at. With all the talking and yelling he had recently done, Hermione had figured he would have been thirsty.
Hermione had put her hand on Ron's shoulder, and was now receiving the same stare she had been given before. Was he troubled by her being so close to him? Did he not like the fact that she was touching him? Hermione grew more concerned the longer Ron stared at her. Ron was now starting to scare her slightly with all of the looks. His eyes were very nice, an ocean blue. But what was going on inside of his head was what was worrying her. She saw Fred approaching from her peripherals and she dropped her hand from Ron's shoulder just as Fred joined them. She smiled to Fred, who addressed them both. "Hello Fred. You look quite dashing yourself." Hermione replied in greeting, smiling to Fred as well. Hermione raised an eyebrow at Fred and crossed her arms, looking directly at Fred when he mentioned Hermione and Ron would soon be having fun. The Weasley twins were notorious for being mischievous, for pranking people especially in public events, and Hermione did not doubt that they would be pulling a prank sooner or later at the dance. She just hoped it would not ruin their night. Hermione and Ron were just getting along perfectly.
Ron looked suspicious and paranoid when Fred excused himself from the two. Hermione laughed a bit. "Ron, he did not do anything. He probably has something planned with George for a group of people, not just for you. He did not do anything yet." Hermione attempted to assure Ron, smiling kindly. She did not want him freaking out over Fred not doing anything. She drank from her cup again, and listened to Ron worry more. There was no need for him to worry about his appearance, he looked fine. "Ron, you look great, stop worrying." Hermione continued, trying to completely assure Ron that Fred had not pulled any sort of practical joke on Ron while he was with them. "He did not do anything to you. I would have told you by now." Hermione ended her speech, smiling to him genuinely. Ron could be really funny at times. Hermione was about to reach out for Ron again to stop him from worrying when an overly cheery voice interrupted their serenity together. She rolled her eyes internally and stifled a sigh as Lavender brightly greeted Ron, and then greeted Hermione with much less enthusiasm. "Hello, Lavender." Hermione returned the greeting with an equal amount of enthusiasm. She could not believe that for once nobody could leave the two alone to speak. Lavender had a purpose for being over with Ron and Hermione, and Hermione now grew suspicious. "We're fantastic." She replied just after Ron, allowing him to speak before speaking out herself. She hoped Ron and herself could get more alone time before the dance ended. They seemed to be getting somewhere.

Lavender went pink under Ron’s gaze. Well, this wasn’t the greeting she expected! Sure, Hermione was always a little cold. Probably because she was the head of the No Fun Auror department. It was always, ‘Lavender turn down that wireless!’ this, and, ‘I’m trying to study!’ that. It was enough to bore any regular, or super exciting person like Lavender, to tears! So, of course, Hermione would greet Lavender with all the enthusiasm of a dead pixie. But, not all was lost! Ron had asked her a question! After ever so briefly narrowing her eyes in the direction of Hermione Granger, Lavender turned her brightest smile on Ron Weasley. Lavender was, after all, a Gryffindor, and they didn’t just admit defeat and walk away from a lukewarm reception!
“Oh, it’s been just amazing!” Except for the part where Seamus is dancing with some Hufflepuff harpy, but Lavender wasn’t about to bring that up here! “You know, at first, I thought that Dumbledore must have gone off the deep end! I mean, all that talk about, you know, house unity.” Lavender wasn’t convinced. If he wanted house unity, those Hufflepuffs better stop stealing her men! Sure, the Hufflepuff blokes weren’t exactly, er, well, just talk to Ernie Macmillan! Of course they’d want to date externally! “And then to announce a dance with less than an hour to get ready! I couldn’t even imagine. But it’s turned into such a lovely evening. I just spent some time with CJ and Parvati, and now, well, I’d really like to dance I think.” Lavender cast one hopeful eye in the direction of Ron.
“Do you like to dance, Ron?” Having talked herself into forgetting that Ron hadn’t been super excited to see her, the brave Gryffindor’s eyelashes fluttered, and one rather hopeful smile danced on her lips. It was rather suicidal to be attempting to dance away with Ron while right under Hermione’s nose, but in Lavender’s defence, she really had no idea the pair were having a private moment. Nor did she really understand that all the tension between Ron and Hermione was a burgeoning love. For Hermione didn’t exactly confide in her or Parvati. Lavender had always privately assumed that the reason Hermione and Ron fought so much was because they privately didn’t get on, but both liked Harry! So they worked it out. Plus, Lavender wasn’t the most observant of souls, and Hermione had always been especially boring to Lavender. Sure, her and Parvati had tried to keep tabs on Hermione’s social life in the beginning. But it was all so mundane. Library every day, studying in the common room, messing around with Ron and Harry doing Merlin knew what in the disgusting dungeons. There were so many more interesting things underfoot! Like how exactly did Eloise Midgen snag Rodger Davies? Love potion? Or her stunning personality? Much more exciting than which subject Hermione was focusing on today!
“What I mean is, would you like to dance, Ron?” Lavender knew an awful lot about blokes. She knew that sometimes they had to have things spelled out to them. That’s okay, she was perfectly willing to spell things out.

A dream that concerned pirates and fairies... Pretty fairies... The pink kind. One landed on his chest and danced her way up to his nose before a really low voice escaped her precious, tiny little lips. “Ennervate.”
“Excuse me?”
The fairies nose was suddenly very long, and hooked. Leaning in, Eric's sepia gaze studied the pixie. “Ennervate!” It growled angrily. Remembering the sword fight he was in, he suddenly reached for his sword and sprung to his feet, holding his wand out, pointy end against one of the Weasley's neck, as if it was the sword he thought he was grasping.
“BRING ME PETER PAN!” He ordered. Out of breath, and frenzied, Eric slowly registered that this was not Neverland. Slowly lowering his wand, chest heaving out of breath: Eric's hand reached and grabbed the nearest hand near him as he tried desperately to calm his mind. What had happened?
Eric could remember dancing with a boy in a green robe, and of course Severus... He could never forget Severus. “I'm so terribly sorry...” He said to the student whom he had brandished his wand at, pocketing it. “I... I assure you, I would not have harmed you.” He pleaded earnestly, his sepia eyes dashing and darting over the students.
Turning, his eyes fell on Potter, and again his knees grew weaker, though some force held him upright. “P-Potter...” He stuttered, giving a slight bow of the head. “Thank you, for breaking my fall. You have my sincerest apologies.” He stated, giving a curt nod of his head. Staggering backwards, Eric clumsily bumped into someone else, quite unaware of his surroundings, and almost frightened.
“S-Sev...?” He asked, hoping he hadn't run into someone else. “I-I think I shall leave you all to your festivities... Please-Please excuse me..” Giving one last bow to Harry, Eric rushed to the back of the room, collapsing in a chair at a corner table, intending to leave once his knees had regained their strength. In the meanwhile, he could observe from a distance.
Still unable to believe that he had met Harry, actually met the boy that he had exchanged owls with throughout the summer, Eric stared in the boys direction: A haunted look becoming his expression.

Astoria nodded and was grateful no one was hurt in the process of this. Why the professor fainted though, she hadn’t a clue. She watched as Professor Snape walked over and brought the other Professor back to consciousness. This was beginning to be a very weird dance after all. Being yelled at was expected, but the twins making everything all fun and cheerful and the fainting Professor, well that was just odd. And Professor Snape getting kissed on the cheek by Professor Avery? Well, that just made her want to curl up in a corner until everything was right again. She didn’t have anything against the two Professors being together. It was just. Odd. Seeing her Head of House showing any sort of affection that wasn’t hateful. In a way though, it was actually a pleasant sight to see. Awkward and scary, but pleasant.
As soon as Professor Avery was up and functional again, he started saying random words. She looked at Harry with a very confused face, which was the face she had worn often tonight. ”Harry, who’s Peter Pan?” Then his wand went towards one of the twins’ necks and her eyes widened. He then seemed to come out of whatever trance he was in and grabbed her hand. She helped him up and gave him a small smile. She really didn’t know what else to do.
The next part she was sure she was going to have to get used to. He took one look at Harry and started babbling and stumbling on words slightly. Then, after apologizing and bowing, took off towards the other end of the room. Did Harry have that reaction to most people? She kind of hoped not. She didn’t want people running away from them. Well, not like that anyways. As soon as he was gone, she looked around at the group she was in. ”Well that was exciting.”
