This was probably the first time CJ's been in the library since his first year. But, he had no other choice. His so called friends all now seemed to have girlfriends and were probably off obsessing about their new loves. "I need new friends," CJ muttered to himself. He glanced around looking for an empty table and spotted one in a corner. He grabbed a random book of the shelf and dropped into an empty chair. Two Ravenclaw girls were intently reading books on the table next to him. "Of course," he said with annoyance and for the first time looked at the cover of the book he grabbed. It was titled History of Herbology and CJ flipped through it with minimal interest.
Herbology wasn't exactly his favorite subject and his eyes were going out of focus from boredom. He lowered the book down and glanced around the library. It was nearly empty, probably because most everyone else was out having a great time with friends. CJ titled back in his chair to see if he could spot any non-Ravenclaw girls, but noticed something different. It was the restricted section and CJ became a lot more interested in the library. He wondered what secrets were behind that door, maybe stories of dragons, trolls, and maybe even He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named.
CJ head snapped as the door opened as a student was entering. He had yellow robes on some naturally CJ did not notice him. He did however notice the librarian staring at him sternly from her perch by the door. Slowly, he brought his chair back to the ground and lifted back up the book. He pretended to be intereseted in screechsnap and its physical attribues, but all the while his mind still lingered on the thought of the restricted section.
His first thought was to go find his friends, but the realization quickly sunk in. They were probably more concerned with taking orders and following around their new high maintenance girlfriends. "Pathetic," CJ mumbled and he desperately looked around the library for a compatible companion.

against the grain
Ginny walked through the corridors of the school mildly depressed. All of her friends were off studying for their OWLs, and she didn't have to take them until next year. It was almost like she was already studying for them, as Hermione made Ginny quiz her on every subject. Where are Jobberknoll feathers commonly found? What plant does this and that? What color should this potions be when it is brewed correctly? Ginny felt like her brain was frying. She couldn't escape it anywhere. People were studying left and right in the common room, in the dining hall, and just about everywhere else in between. She figured there was one place where people would still surely be studying, but at least they'd be quiet about it.
Walking into the library, she immediately recalled what had happened the last time she was int here. Ginny had brought chocolate eggs into the library and her and Harry ate them, until the librarian caught them and kicked them out, bags, chasing and smacking them on the way out. She wouldn't let a repeat of that happen. Gin sneaked into the library, avoiding the librarian and tried finding someone she knew that she could sit with. She scanned the library and saw a familiar Gryffindor face. CJ! She saw a book in his hands though. The history of herbology, she thought the cover said. He must be bored to tears if he picked up that book.
"Hey." she whispered as she sat down next to him. "Studying for OWLs?" she said, taking in his boring as heck book. Ginny would hate next year, OWls seemed to be such a pain.

CJ heard the door crack open again and his eyes darted towards the entrance. A sigh of relief escaped him as he found a friendly face. "You are a life saver," he whispered as she sat down. He dropped the book immediately and turned towards Ginny. "Studying?" CJ replied as if he did not even know what that was. "Nah, studying has never been my thing, its really rather boring," CJ added with a smile. "I'll just wing it on the OWLs, probably choose letter C quite a bit."
CJ had been putting off thinking about the OWLS the whole year, but eventually he would need to get serious. "I'll start worrying tomorrow," he said to himself. Clearly a lie, but CJ wasn't going to worry, he would come up with something. He hoped.
Turning his attention back to Ginny, he said "Ah, that's right you don't have to take yours until next year." CJ envied her, the OWLs were nothing but a pain.
"Well, anyway what are you doing here? You should be off with friends," CJ said. He unfortunately did not have that option. He glanced up at the librarian again and she now seemed to be staring intently at the pair. "You have got to be kidding me," CJ muttered, "She is worse than the OWLs."

against the grain
"A life saver, huh? Were you that desperate for someone to talk to?" she joked lightly. A Ravenclaw girl near them shhed her, to which Ginny shook her head and talked quieter. CJ dropped the book that he had supposedly been reading like it was on fire. Gin took the liberty of picking it up and skimming through the first few pages. Herbology, in her opinion, was one of the most boring, least useful classes she took, other than Divination. It was also one of her worst classes. Herbology has been an important... Yadadada. The specialty of plants was discovered.. Blahblahblah. "Jeez, I just picked this thing up, and it's already boring me!" she whispered, shutting the book and pushing it away from her on the table.
CJ got all defensive about the studying thing, which made Ginny chuckle. "Studying isn't really my thing either. But it seems like everyone is studying like mad for these tests." She said with a grimace. That was going to be her next year, probably her and Loony studying together. Surely, that would be an interesting study session. "Choose the letter C? Well, the letter B would give you a much higher chance of getting the question right!" She replied jokingly. Like she knew anything about those test. "So you haven't studied at all?" she asked, a bit nervous for him. You didn't pass most of your OWLs, you were screwed.
"Indeed. I'm just a little baby forth year." She said, clearly amused. Ginny was lucky for now, but she couldn't help but worry for all the stuff she would have to go through next year...and her seventh year. OWLs and NEWTs. All of her friends were taking OWLs, Fred and George were going to take the NEWTs. But then again, they weren't study freaks either. She hadn't once seen the twins study for their upcoming exam. All they wanted to do was run their joke shop. "Yeah, no exams until next year!" the two Ravenclaw girls looked up at her and grimaced, then returned to their rapid reading and note taking.
"Off with friends? Well, Neville is in the greenhouse studying the plants even though he really doesn't need to. Harry, Hermione, and Ron are it the common room looking over potions ingredients, Luna is..uh...being Luna. Parvati and Lavender are with Professor Trelawney studying Divination. Seamus is off blowing something up for sure. And Michael's ill." She said quickly. Ginny had other friends of course, bu none that she felt like spending time with at the moment. She had too many 5th year friends, plenty more than 4th year. "So ALL of your friends are studying for the exams?" That must of been terrible. Not being able to have a conversation without something about OWLs coming up, not being to spend time with your friends because every single one of them are study freaks.
Looking where CJ was, she noticed the librarian staring at them. "Maybe she thinks we're going to snog." She said with a chuckle. "Just kidding. Last time I was in here, Harry and I we're eating chocolate eggs. She caught us and was so mad, she kicked us out, with out bags chasing us and hitting us over our heads!" She grimaced at the memory. It was awfully embarrassing. "I will never ever eat in here again!"

"Plants might be the most boring thing of all time," CJ said laughing. "I mean come on is the big bad plant going to get me? We need to be learning things that can really help us," he said in all serious.
Leaning his chair back again, CJ listened to the long list of what Ginny's friends were up too. "Wow, you have a lot of friends," he replied. "You must be a pretty interesting girl then," CJ added with a smile. 4th year with mostly older friends, CJ was impressed, Ginny had some swagger.
"Chocolate eggs? That's impressive, I like your style, we need to cause some trouble together some time," CJ added. He was actually surprised, there was finally a girl at Hogwarts who didn't follow the rules like an Unbreakable Vow. He glanced over at the Ravenclaw girls and sighed. There were to many people had Hogwarts who would rather study all day then go outside and fool around. He personally thought people needed to live a little. Actually, live a lot. But hey, more people studying, more people to prank.
Suddenly, his idea came back to him. "Hey, you ever been in that Restricted Section?" he asked as he pointed towards the door. "Pretty weird, huh, why you think they have it all locked up?" CJ asked curiously. "Who knew the library could provide an adventure," CJ thought to himself. He knew he would be behind that locekd door someday, and someday soon. He just had to figure out how. He then turned to Ginny and smiled, maybe she was the answer.
