Blaise had been rather unobservant during dinner. In fact, it wasn't until after in the common room that he realized something was up. All the guys were wearing dress shirts and ties, and several girls in pretty, sparkly little dresses. Many of them featured green. He heard some girls chattering about a dance in the great hall. What dance? He inquired to himself. Then he realized that was what Dumbledore was talking about in all that mumbo-jumbo he called a speech. Pansy walked up to him with a sneer on her face. Of course, her dress was solid Slytherin green, and much too short for someone of her frame. Not going? She asked, taking in his casual attire. Haven't found a girl good enough for you to go to the dance with? You're so fussy. She said in her sickeningly fake sweet voice. Blaise gave her an unamused look. "Are you going with Draco, or has he ditched you for Millicent?" He said, pointing across the room to Malfoy indeed talking to her. Pansy flushed and stumbled over there (she was in heels), and left him alone like he pleased.
A couple of girls ogled him curiously. He needed to get out of here. Blaise went up to his room, which he just happened to share with Malfoy, Crabbe, and Goyle. Nott gave him a look as Blaise brushed right past him. Nott was very much similar to Blaise in the way he believed he was better than everyone else. You would think they would be at least well acquainted, but it turns out they just couldn't stand each other. He closed and locked the old wooden door and sat on his bed for a few minutes. Zabini certainly had clothes to wear, that wasn't the problem. He kept thinking about what Pansy said. He certainly did not want to go alone, but he was also very fussy about girls as she implied. Then one person came to his mind. Cassie Prescott. She was beautiful, Slytherin, and not annoying. Blaise had taken a liking to her feisty attitude and her spunk. Would she already have a date? Perhaps it would be too late, but he had to try anyway.
Blaise pulled a white dress shirt, come black pants, and a blue tie (Ravenclaw colors, at least the tie isn't red) and some clean dress shoes. He smoothed over his shaved head self-consciously and straightened his tie. He was about to walk out the door when he had a last minute thought. He pulled out his wand and with it, created a single white rose. That would be a nice touch, he supposed. Walking out the door, he tucked the rose in his back pocket, his wand went in the front pocket, and Blaise entered the main common room with a stride he did not have before. A few girls giggled at the sight of him, but he ignored them. Blaise only had eyes for Cassie. He stood by the fireplace, waiting for Cassie. He had another trick up his sleeve.
While he waited, Blaise watched in silent amusement as Pansy huffed and puffed and started turning red at the site of Draco talking to other girls. Blaise tolerated Pansy, but because her stupidity made him laugh. Draco, he befriended....for other reasons. He was lost in these thoughts as he waited rather patiently. The room became more and more empty as the minutes passed. many words, i described the outfit, holaa

Cassie raised an eyebrow in disgust at all the giggling, prepping and gabbing that was going on in the girls' common room. She had once had a tiny bit of respect for some of these girls, because they carried theirselves like they were better than anyone else and didn't let anyone from any of the other houses get in their way even when they were simply walking down the halls. But now that she watched them go all crazy just because Dumbledore had announced that there would be a dance. She scoffed at one girl who started bawling her eyes out because she thought another girl's dress was prettier than hers, and she was worried about her date not going to want her or some stupid crap. From this moment on, she had no respect for any of them. Whatsoever. As she was leaning on a wall near her bed with her arms crossed over her chest while she watched the craziness unfolding before her eyes, a blonde girl whose name she knew to be Naomi came up to her with wide eyes, "Hey! Are you going to the dance? If you are then who's your date?" Cassie eyed her briefly, thinking she was standing far too close, for her tastes, and wanting to shove the girl away from her. Partially because she was way too perky and hyper for her liking. But mostly because she smelled as if she'd taken a bath in a perfume that smelled like... she couldn't even think of what it smelled like, it was so foul. And what she had asked about having a date; what was the big deal about that? And why was it even her concern what Cassie was or wasn't doing? Or who she was or wasn't going with, for that matter? Even the dances back in America hadn't brought out this much craziness and over obsessiveness in the girls. Then again, the girls back at her American school could easily threaten to kill any guy who didn't agree to go with her to the dances. But, you know, whatever. The sassy brunette gave a shrug and shoved herself away from the wall, putting one finger on the girl's chest, just below her collar bone, and shoving her away from her. " First of all, you are way too close to me, and I'm not okay with that. And you're too hyper, too, by the way, so unless you want me to twist your body parts into pretzel like forms that you wouldn't even dare to dream of because they're so painful, I sugguest you calm the hell down, and back up. Secondly, yes, I'm going to the stupid dance. Not that it's any of your business. And, whether I'm going with someone or not, is definitely none of your business, and so for that reason, I'm not going to even bother answering that pitiful question. Now, move." She bit back a smirk as she watched Naomi blink rapidly and move to the side so that Cassie could pass her by, and the brunette brushed passed the wide eyed girl, in order to get to her trunk of clothes. She sighed, blew a strand of hair away from her eyes, and crouched down to open her trunk, rustling through it for a few minutes before pulling out a dress and undressing so she could put it on. Moving to stand in front of the mirror, she smoothed it out with her hands once more, styled her hair, and left the madness that was the girls' dormitory. Cassie shook her head as she walked down the stairs, still trying to rid her poor nose of the awful stench of Naomi's perfume; the girl had been so close and had had so much perfume on, that she'd had to apply her own, which gratefully smelled much, much better. As she was walking down the stairs, although not a very long trip, her thoughts were racing ahead of her feet. She had spoken a bit about a date with Naomi, or, well, about whether or not she had a date, and that it wasn't any of her business either way... but whatever. It now struck Cassie that it would be very awkward going to the dance alone, when she was pretty sure that everyone else had dates. Her mind picked through the guys that she would even consider being seen with outside of broom closets and empty classrooms, but only one stuck out among the rest: Blaise Zabini. She smiled as the name entered her name, and all the rest all fell away. One of the first people she'd seen upon arriving at Hogwarts, had been Blaise, and from that moment on she'd been... oh, what's the word... interested in him? She didn't know, but she did know that, if it wasn't too late, she was going to approach the boy on the subject of the dance. That is, if he didn't already have a date, which she really wouldn't have been surprised if he did. Blaise was suave, charming, not... too conceited, and not to mention, totally hot. When Cassie got to the bottom of the stairs, her blue eyes scanned the common room, and immediately landed on Blaise, standing by the fire place. She smiled softly and walked over, raising an eyebrow at him with the small smile still on her lips, " Waiting for someone?" She inquired, hoping he'd say no. Seriously. You know that corny bit in movies and stuff, where some love sick chick is saying 'please say no' over and over in her head while waiting for the guy of her dreams to answer her question of whether or not he was single or not, or whatever? Yeah. She was doing that, basically. Just... less pathetically.

Blaise waited for a few minutes, and a slow smile crept on his face as he saw Cassie come into the common room. She was in a very sophisticated dress that looked absolutely brilliant on her. And she came...right his way?! Blaise was a little shocked. He stood a bit straighter and straightened his tie as she walked over. He approached her. She looked great. Waiting for someone? He smirked. How should he answer that, his usual bastardized answer, or a nice guy answer? Something flirty or something shy sounding? "Not anymore." He said, obviously flirting. Blaise was really hoping she didn't have a date for the dance, or he would be getting a punch in the face later that night. Wouldn't want to ruin his attractive face, would he?
He had something in mind. It was kind of cheesey, but kind of sweet. Blaise wasn't necessarily the sweetest guy around, but hey, Cassie had been the first girl he actually had a crush on, and would go out with. You had very limited choices when you were as discriminatory as Blaise. He pulled out a piece of paper from his back pocket that he had folded into a bird and held it behind his back. His other wand he held his wand behind his back. With a flick, the bird went soaring around the room, purposely hitting Pansy in the head and messing up her hair, and flew onto Cassie's shoulder. Once it hit Cassie's shoulder, it turned into a a green and gold butterfly. The butterfly flew twice around Cassie and landed in the palm of her hand. After that, it vanished. Blaise wasn't too good at Transfiguration, so he didn't know how to make it last longer.
After that little show, hopefully Pansy's annoyed voice in the background didn't completely ruin the moment, Blaise asked her confidently, "Would you like to attend this dance with me?" He didn't show any signs of nervousness or hesitation. He pulled the white rose out of his pocket (dang his pockets were full) and held it out to her. If she said yes, she'd take it. If she said no...he'd probably rip it up into angry shreds. Blaise didn't like to be said no to, to say the least. Lol.
Gosh, it's like my muse for Blaise has been murdered. many words, i described the outfit, holaa

"Not anymore." Blaise answered, and Cassie raised an eyebrow curiously, her heart starting to flutter slightly in hope. Was he saying what she thought he was saying? Wait. No. He couldn't be. He hadn't been waiting for her, otherwise she would've known about it. Right? I mean, how would he even know that she would come down into the common room? Maybe she would've stayed up in the girls' dormitories and not even come down... But if she had, and he really had been waiting for her, then he might have been waiting for hours. She cringed inwardly at the thought. She gave him a warm smile, though, and her cheeks even gained a bit of color. Was he flirting, with his answer? She couldn't quite tell.
I mean, it would've been completely obvious, if Cassie's thoughts weren't whirling around in circles going every which way possible, but, whatever. The next thing that happened confirmed that, yes indeed, Blaise was flirting with her, which made her all the more happy inside. Cassie watched with a smile that mirrored her awe as he pulled out a piece of paper from his back pocket that he had folded into a bird and held it behind his back. Then, with a flick of his wand that he had also been holding behind his back, the bird went soaring around the room, hitting Pansy in the head and messing up her hair, seemingly on purpose, and flew onto Cassie's shoulder.
Once it hit her shoulder, it turned into a a green and gold butterfly. The butterfly flew twice around her and landed in the palm of her hand, then after that, it vanished. Cassie laughed softly and looked back up at Blaise, just as he asked her something that made her heart skip like ten beats at once. "Would you like to attend this dance with me?" The girl blinked a couple of times, biting down on her lower lip to keep herself from smiling too widely and making herself seem like an excited little school girl. And that... would not be attractive. At all. Cassie couldn't help but smile a little more, though. She stepped forward and took the white rose he'd presented to her just moments before, while she was having her little moment of... well, trying not to seem too excited about being asked to a dance.
She leaned up slightly and pecked him on the cheek gently, then put the rose up to her nose and inhaled the smell, smiling up at him. "I would love to." She answered, finally. It wasn't the fact that Blaise had asked her to go to the dance with him that made her so happy, but it was the fact that Blaise had asked her to the dance. If anyone else had done it, then she most likely would not have had the same reaction. But Cassie had liked Blaise since the day she'd come to Hogwarts. And him asking her to the dance? That was the best thing ever. And she didn't give a damn if that made her sound pathetic or not.
