physical description: The term ‘natural beauty’ is indeed the best way to describe Mia Rose. Thick, wavy dark-brown hair reaches just a few inches below her shoulders, but she prefers to tie her hair up in simple yet elegant styles without the use of hair products. Her two thoughtful, chocolate eyes sparkle from beneath her sweeping bangs, matching in brilliance to her glittering, white smile. She has a regal look to her face, characterized by high cheekbones and thin, arched eyebrows. As for make-up, Mia Rose refuses to wear anything more than mascara and eyeliner, hence the purity of her charm.
Compared to others, Mia could be considered petite. Standing at a short height of 5'3", she is towered over by many of her peers, and her slim composure makes her demeanor seem even more frail and timid. Her wide, brilliant smile and heart of gold, though, make up for what she physically lacks. Slender, toned legs along with her smooth stomach are a result of a childhood sheltered by slightly overzealous parents. In addition to her physique, small hands and feet compliment the femininity of her body.
Despite her attractive body however, she prefers to wear modest, loose clothing. She has a particular taste for floral prints, and when she isn't wearing her school robes during school hours, Mia can be found in vintage-type apparel. Much of her wardrobe follows on her principle theme of simplicity and innocence. While the rest her classmates may dress themselves up in heels, lather make-up over their faces, and layer on pounds and pounds of superficial, pretentious accessories, she can be found in modest floral skirts or dresses and flats.

YOU HAVE A CHOICE BETWEEN THE LISTING BELOW OR THE OVERALL PERSONALITY. DO NOT DO BOTH.
overall personality: The most striking characteristic that can be seen in Mia Rose, even at first sight, is her innocence. She would much rather spend her free time in the library or studying in the common rooms than going off rule-breaking or partying. However, she has an incredibly accepting personality, befriending many with her kind attitude, even if she doesn't participate in the same activities as them. Her strong dislike of any form of fighting, combined with her goody-goody temperament, makes her perhaps one of the most docile witches of her age.
Underneath her calm and compassionate exterior, though, Mia has a darker side. After years of living under her successful sister's shadow, she longs to prove herself to the world. Her overly ambitious attitude towards mastering magic is one she tries to conceal for fear of driving others away. On the other hand, Mia Rose will not hesitate to very obviously distance herself from anyone she deems too unintelligent, immature, or immoral. Luckily, this is rarely ever a problem. Most of the people she disapproves of know better than to seek out her company.
Following her motif of simplicity and girlish naivety, Mia has a very noticeable liking for any sort of colorful lights, such as christmas lights, fireworks, etc. She also has a sweet tooth for fruit juices and cheesy romantics, and when not studying her textbooks, can be found with her head stuck in the pages of the classic romantic novel with a dreamy smile lingering on her face. Puzzles and Charms seem to be a special talent of hers, although Mia fails miserably at Herbology despite her almost photographic memory. However, any creature resembling an insect (especially spiders) will send her running. She was never really considered the bravest of the bunch, but when it came to wit and virtue, Mia excels at the top of her class.
Mia is, however, human and does possess the faults of many. Her pride and stubbornness are also key factors of her personality, along with jealousy. She is used to being right because of her educational prowess, so if her point-of-view turns out to be incorrect, it takes much convincing before her mind can be changed. Additionally, in contrast to her friendly demeanor, Mia Rose hardly ever apologizes and is easily envious of others if they exceed at what should be one of her strengths. Her pride clouds her judgment when disagreements turn personal.
Unlike many teenagers of her age, she does prefer to have some solitary time where she can relax and breath. Mia's high standards for her own performance often takes a toll on her self-esteem. She goes wandering off on her own, usually to quiet, scenic places such as the lakeside or the owlery whenever the pressure builds up. This is not to say Mia Rose is antisocial, however. She is well-liked by many for the honest, gentle personality and enjoys spending time with her friends when she has the opportunity.
When it comes to boys, Mia is not necessarily the typical flirty girl. She does enjoy spending time with the opposite gender, probably more than her own because she feels that they are less dramatic and judgmental, but finds it hard to fall for one person in specific. The usual 'beautiful' compliment and wink are hardly enough to seduce her, but somehow, she does have a tendency to fall for more than one guy and doesn't realize it until it's too late.

family: Oliver and Sonia White (parents), Marlee White (older Muggle sister)
overall history: Born into a high middle class family, Mia Rose White would've appeared to be any ordinary baby. It was only until her sixth birthday, that her parents began to notice that strange, unexplainable things happened around her. Her favorite teddy bear, given to her as a present by her aunt, managed to become lost on her birthday trip to the zoo. That evening, Whites returned home and were alarmed to find the teddy bear sitting at the bottom of their staircase in perfect condition. How it had ended up back at their residence was a complete mystery, but Sonia and Oliver shrugged it off. After all, previously tearful Mia Rose was now giggling happily with her teddy bear back in her arms. As far as they could see, no harm had been done.
Mia also began to notice things for herself as she grew older. Once, she had accidentally broken a treasured vase that Sonia had received as a gift from a coworker. Frantic that Sonia would be enraged when she arrived home from work, Mia dug around the house for glue, only to return to the vase and discover that it seemed to have repaired itself.
Finally, these mysterious events were explained when an aged, strangely dressed man appeared on the Whites' doorstep on Mia's eleventh birthday. He informed them that Mia Rose was no ordinary girl. In fact, she was a witch. Thus began a whole new adventure of her life. Oliver and Sonia, who were both flattered to have someone of magical talent in their family, were more than happy to support her decision to attend Hogwarts. During her first year, Mia was overwhelmed to learn just how little she new about the wizarding world and was more motivated than ever to prove her wits.
By her second year at Hogwarts, Mia had steadily progressed to the top of her class, earning near perfect marks in almost all of her classes. However, by then it had come to her attention that a certain Harry Potter had arrived at Hogwarts as a first year. Coming from a muggle-only family, she had never heard of his heroic deeds and didn't think much of him at first, but as the years progressed, Mia found herself rooting for Dumbledore and his cause. By her sixth year, with the mounting threat of the returning Lord Voldemort, she had finally picked a concrete side to support.
However, a new obstacle presented itself. The appointment of the infamous Dolors Umbridge to the Defense Against the Dark Arts position annoyed Mia, but in order to keep her good grades, there was little she could do. As Umbridge's misdeeds grew in number and severity, it dawned on Mia. She could no longer sit by and watch as everything she loved about Hogwarts was destroyed. For once, breaking her goody-goody streak , Mia retaliated. She enlisted in Dumbledore's Army, despite her strong dislike for violence, and began using her quick wit to aid her fellow rebels as best she could.

how you found us: The Unforgivable Curse
(Taken from a thread at TUC)
Setting -- Late at night in the Library, after meeting a new Ravenclaw boy named Jude with whom she might take a romantic attraction to in the future; he loses his wand and finds it next to her, but before leaving, he sees how much pain she is in trying to slave over a Herbology essay and decides to help out.
Mia shrugged, following Jude’s gaze down to his wand. “Well you never know,” she said absentmindedly, eyes tracing the intricate design of the thin piece of wood. In any other life, it would have seemed silly to her that such a small object could be so important, but here in the wizarding world, it was perfectly plausible. There were tons of other more powerful objects even more inconspicuous than a wand, though, she reminded herself. “Don’t worry though. Someone would’ve found it eventually.”
Being her ambitiously motivated self, Mia found herself feeling a small spark of delight when Jude mentioned his poor performance in Care of Magical Creatures, but quickly quieted it with a sense of guilt. She was just naturally competitive when it came to academics. After all, it had been her goal since her second year to beat out all of the true pureblood wizards in her classes to prove her worth, but she was never quite sure when it went too far. A small frown ghosted over her features when she her attention was instinctively drawn towards his face. This Jude seemed genuine and trustworthy as far as she knew, which made her feel all the worse at comparing the two already.
Mia was quickly drawn out of her thoughts when the subject of her heritage was brought into question. It wasn't exactly a sensitive topic for her, but when it came to meeting new people, her blood status always had a tendency to kill the conversation as soon as it took a turn for the worse. She was proud of being muggle-born. Even if some of her classmates would never admit it, Mia only saw it as a strength - she had no magical drop of blood in her family, and yet she excelled at the top of her class. Trying to gauge Jude's point-of-view, she nodded and explained, "Yeah, I came from a whole family of Muggles. It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be."
"Er, but that's just horrible!" she half-protested when he suggested using Incendio against any bugs that dared to inconvenience her. "Even if I hate them, I don't think I could bring myself to kill any at least." The corners of her lips curved upwards in a joking grin, and she laughed lightly before running a hand through her hair. "I guess that means I'll have to call for you whenever the problem arises, yeah?"
The dull grunt of his chair legs scraping against the stone floor made Mia faintly wonder where Madam Pince was, but she found herself hardly caring. She could hear a small voice in her head sagely agreeing that any time spent this boy was well worth the trouble. "Well, I've only got a few lines down really," said the brunette, reaching for the piece of parchment beside the closed book, "so I'm not... I'm not really sure, er, how much you can help..."
Later, in retrospect, she would club herself over the head for sounding so absolutely ridiculous, but in the present, the closing distance between Jude and Mia seemed to result in a deeper blush on her fair cheeks and a sudden lack of brain activity. Trying to keep her gaze from straying back to his face, she handed him the piece of parchment to read over and flipped the book back open. "I uh, I swear I've read this section on that one Grecian cabbage a dozen times and I can't even remember what it's called."
