And I won't put my hands up and surrender
There will be no white flag above my door
I'm in love, and always will be.

WELL I FEEL THE LIGHT HAS DIMMED

physical description: Her jet black hair has been streaked with gray as she has aged. It is usually pulled back in a severe bun at the nape of her neck, and a black witch’s hat adorns her head at most times. Her robes are usually emerald green, which match her eyes, or some sort of tartan pattern. Wrinkles have also made themselves evident in her skin. She is a tall woman, who intimidates those she opposes with her fiery temper.
play by: Dame Maggie Smith

overall personality: Minerva is seen by most students as a stern old woman with a cold heart. However, this is not true. She cares for all of her students, and only wants to challenge them to do their best in their magical education. Though she does not show favor towards her own house, she regards them almost as her own children.
Minerva loves to learn as much as she can and she is a very smart woman. In return, she loves teaching her students, especially those who show an actual interest in what she has to teach them. Those students are her usually her favorites, as they show the most potential. In her spare time, Minerva loves to read. It is not uncommon for her to curl up by the fire in her personal rooms and lose herself in a novel for a few hours.
She isn't afraid to let others know if she dislikes them very strongly, the most pertinent example being Dolores Umbridge. She absolutely despises that woman. While she had attended Hogwarts, Minerva did not like the subject of Divination, and she still holds a dislike of the subject today. But, perhaps the thing that she hates the most is disloyalty. Minerva believes that everyone should be loyal to their friends, and this a quality that Minerva possesses quite strongly.

family: Both of her parents were killed in the war with Grindewald. She has a surviving brother and sister, but rarely talks to either of them.
overall history: I grew up in Scotland with my parents and siblings. As a young child, I was somewhat shy and loved to hide away and just read all day long. I was extremely smart, and most other children my age did not want to associate with me at all.
I was so excited to begin my schooling at Hogwarts. I was sorted into Gryffindor house, though the Sorting Hat almost placed me in Ravenclaw. Throughout my years at school, I was very studious. I did my work as soon as it was assigned and excelled in all of my classes. My favorite class was Transfiguration, in which I did the best. The only class I did not care for was Divination.
I was so interested in Transfiguration, that I would often stay after class to discuss the day’s lesson with the Professor, Albus Dumbledore. Throughout my years as a student, we became good friends, and he was someone I knew I could always trust.
During my years at Hogwarts, I made a few very close friends. Poppy Pomfrey, Xiomara Hooch, and Pomoana Sprout, and I were almost always together. Although I usually hated to break the rules, there were a few times when we did things we were not supposed to.
After graduating from Hogwarts, I became an Auror. For a few years, I worked on many missions to help protect the wizarding world. In between working, I continued to practice my transfiguration skills and taught myself all I could. I wrote many essays that were published in Transfiguration Weekly.
A few years went by, and then I received a letter from my good friend, Albus Dumbledore, who was now being appointed Headmaster of Hogwarts. He asked me to come take over his position as the Professor of Transfiguration. I readily accepted, and have been teaching here ever since.
Soon after I began working there, I was appointed Head of Gryffindor house. A few years after that, Albus asked me to be his Deputy Head. I was very flattered by this and I enjoy helping him with school matters. He is one of my closest friends, and despite the large age difference, if I am honest with myself, I think I love him.
With Voldemort getting stronger every day, I have been helping out the order a lot more frequently. Because of this, I haven't been able to teach as much, and so another teacher has taken my place for the time being. I do miss teaching very much, but at least I am still Gryffindor Head and Deputy Headmistress.

The sound of a quill scratching on parchment was the only sound to be heard in the office of one Professor Minerva McGonagall. It was a sound often heard there, as this professor was one to always be working. She assigned a lot of work for her students, and therefore had to grade it in the end. Adjusting her glasses, Minerva leaned forward to be closer to the current essay she was reading. The writing was extremely small and cramped, and she was having a horrible time at trying to decipher what exactly it said. Sighing, she decided that she would finish this particular essay later, and slid it back underneath the stack of papers that still needed looked over.
Picking up the paper that was now on top, she was relieved to see that this student's handwriting was much more neat, and she would actually be able to read what they had written. Her room grew silent as she read, and then the sound of writing could be heard again as she wrote a comment and branded the paper with a grade.
It only took Minerva about an hour more to grade the rest of the assignments, as most of the students had actually grasped this lesson and had written good essays. But, she still wasn't done with her work. No, she had a few things that Albus had asked her to complete for the Ministry. She had just started to glance at the first paper when she heard someone knock on her door. Without glancing up from the paper, she called loudly enough for the person to hear, "Come in!"
She didn't know who would be coming to visit her at this time, as dinner had just finished not more than two hours ago and this was free time for the students. Perhaps it was one of her colleagues, or even Albus, come to see if she had finished the reports. She sure hoped not, as she hadn't been able to work on them until now since she had been busy the entire day.
