To whom ever I trouble with my problems,
It's my fifth year at Hogwarts, yet for some reason I still feel out of place. I was called a mudblood today by a Slytherin a few years older than me who until today, I have never even met. While everyone seemed to make it out to be a big deal, I do not feel as though. I guess I just don't understand what is so bad about not being born into magic. I mean, I was invited to come here wasn't I? I don't believe I still understand the full concept of magic. I feel like I'm still in a dream in my bed back at Uncle Vince's house. Or maybe my dream is to be back at my favorite uncle's house. I'm just not sure if I belong here.
Thanks, CJK

CJK ,
I can understand better then I would like to admit. Unfortunately, it doesn't get any better as you grow older, and it will follow you everywhere you go. Most are tolerant of the fact that we were born into non-magic families, but there are those who believe that being a pureblood or even a half-blood makes you much more worthy of the life that you've been given. Sadly, most of those people belong to Slytherin House and seem to make it their mission in life to make us miserable, but it doesn't matter. You can't let them get to you or they win, you see, and that's exactly what they want.
Take it from someone who's been here a little while longer. They will not stop calling you that vile word, but I have friends who are always there to tell me that they don't care about my blood status, that they like me for who I am and not my family history. Those are the people you need to find and befriend. But don't let the others bully you into submission. Stay strong.

Alicia,
First off, thanks for listening and sharing your story. I was fortunate that my letter was read by some one muggle- born like myself. I guessed after 5 years they would finally accept me, but I realize now most of them already have. I would love to hear your story of how you made your way to Hogwarts. I suppose us muggle-borns need to stick together.
Thanks, CJK
