It was a beautiful day outside. Ginny had been daydreaming all day in her classes, just waiting for them to be over so she could go out and fly her broom. There had been several storms sweeping the area in the past few weeks, so she hadn't gotten a good chance to practice. Sure, Harry was keeping them all in shape, making them play in the pounding rain, thunder and lightning, but Ginny couldn't concentrate when she was soaked down to her skin in her heavy uniform, and her hair was wild and stuck to her face so she was nearly blinded. Today, she was actually excited to play, and not just forced. When her last class of the day, History of Magic(what a bore), came to and end, she dropped off her books eagerly on her bed in the Common Room, and walked off towards the Quidditch Pitch to pick up her broom from the equipment shed. She really wasn't supposed to fly unattended, or fly when there wasn't practice, but Ginny had formulated a technique that made sure she wouldn't get caught. It was only the beginning of the year, and Ginny was already finding new ways to be sly. That must come from living with Fred and George.
Ginny crept inconspicuously down the hallways and to the Quidditch Pitch, where she stopped at the shed. "Alohomora." she said, pointing a sleek wand at the wooden, rusted door. They should really have better protection on these things. She though to herself as she rummaged through everyone's brooms to find hers. There were Firebolts, brand new Nimbuses, and other assorted honorable brooms that could easily be stolen. Ginny would never steal a broom of course, but she couldn't help but wonder how easy it'd be to take a broom and claim it as her own. Her broom, of course, was the oldest and least special of the bunch. It was fairly old, maybe about 15 years old, and was her brother Bill's. Since he started working as a curse breaker, he hadn't had any use for the broom; and her parents, instead of buying her a new broom, just agreed with Bill to have her take it. She wasn't going to complain, though. At least she had a broom to play on; and besides, she was used to getting hand-me-downs. Ginny had even ended up with some of the boy's clothing over the years, but those articles mostly consisted of unisex jumpers and hats and mittens and jackets.
She examined the old broom for a moment before picking it up and bringing it out, tripping over a few other brooms on the way out. There was absolutely no organization in the shed, so everything was just thrown all over the place. The closest thing that came to organization was the fact that there were four separate corners where each House was supposed to place their belongings. Otherwise, there would be several fights about whose things were whose. Ginny had gotten into a fight with Zacharias Smith over whose shoulder pads were whose, because the Hufflepuff stuff was so close to the Gryffindor's that if you throw something in there, instead of placing it down where it needs to go, it will end up in another House's belongings. It didn't help that Smith was a stubborn idiot as well. Ginny was less than pleased to realize he was going to be joining Dumbledore's Army. She had almost wanted to complain to Harry about it, but figured he had enough on his plate to worry about. She didn't want to sound like a stupid teenager complaining about boys.
Ginny locked the door and got into position on her broom before taking off. She soared high into the hair, enjoying the feeling of riding in the nice, warm weather. She soared so high that if anyone saw, she would just look like a speck in the sky. For all any of them knew, that could be a bird soaring in the sky. A bird...with red hair and a robe. But still, Ginny didn't think anyone would bother ratting her out for flying. It would only get her like a weeks detention tops. She wouldn't get banned from the team because they needed her, especially now that the toad seemed to be completely against Quidditch. Oh, damn! That's right, the toad could bust her for flying, and kick her off the team herself! Gin made a nose dive down back to the earth, realizing what she did could have been a fatal mistake. Her landing was so rough, and so fast that she nearly fell right off her broom when she landed. It took her a second to get used to being back on the ground, and when she did, she dismounted and started her way back to the shed, in hopes of hiding the broom before Umbridge or her little Slytherin friends could see it.
Ginny took a look at her surroundings. She had managed to fly all the way to the Black Lake, and she wasn't alone. She was on guard in seconds, but calmed when she discovered it was neither a Hogwarts student, nor a professor. The girl looked slightly alarmed as a huge gust of wind blew papers from her hands and over towards where Ginny stood. Dropping her broom, she quickly reached out and leaped over a few places, catching each paper that had been blown away from her. Good thing she had fast reflexes, or those papers could have flown straight into the Black Lake itself, in which case you would never get the papers back, unless you wanted to fight the Merpeople that lived within it's meerky depths. She shuffled the papers all together before heading off to the woman, who couldn't be too much younger than her brother Bill. She was wondering what she was doing here alone, and why the Black Lake would be a calming place for writing, well, whatever she was writing. Ginny hadn't taken a look at the papers; that would be a violation of privacy. Growing up with so many siblings, she knew what it was like to want privacy.
Ginny picked up her broom with her one free hand, and tromped over to the woman. "I believe these are yours." she said politely, with a questioning glance. There were so many things she wanted to ask right now, but didn't want to be rude. "I'm Ginny Weasley. Perhaps you know one of my brothers?" She said, taking her age into account. If she went to Hogwarts, she most certainly had been in years close to Bill and Charlie. "What brings you to a lovely place like this?" The lovely part came off rather sarcastic sounding, but really, the Black Lake was a creepy place. Lovely would be the last serious word anyone used for it. Except for maybe Snape, but he was a very creepy teacher after all...

"Not a problem." she said coolly as she handed the stack of papers back to their rightful owner, a pretty girl with dark hair and dark eyes. Ginny immediately felt daft as she had given out her name, expecting the stranger to recognize it. Sure, the Weasley family was a big family, but she couldn't just assume everyone knew who they were. Maybe it was better off if she didn't know about them, considering most rumors about them were about their poor status and how they were 'blood traitors'. It wasn't always pleasant being a Weasley. Ginny stood there awkwardly for a few minutes that felt more like a few hours. The woman spoke a word Ginny did not recognize, but assumed it was a yes. This was confirmed when she spoke of her second eldest brother Charlie. "Yes, he always did. He lives in Romania. Char's studying dragons." Charlie's favorite class was always Care of Magical Creatures. Mum told him he'd never be able to make a living out of that subject, other than a Professor, but Charlie had proved them all wrong. Ginny nodded, figuring that Bill was just a bit older than herself. "Twelve O.W.Ls indeed. Bill is a very smart." Ginny said with pride. She absolutely idolizes Bill, because he was such a great man. Bill was smart, nice, and not stuck up, nor full of himself. He was, perhaps, the perfect brother.
As soon as she said she was from Durmstrang, Ginny's face fell. That, of course, was where Viktor was from. The woman probably was familiar with Viktor as well, though she seemed more down to Earth than him. It explained the accent and the strange ways she was speaking, as Ginny became curious the first time Alice spoke. "Durmstrange, oi? I know someone who went there." she said with a look on her face. "I've heard it's an, erm, nice school. They came for the Triwizard Tournament last year." And all seemed like mindless pricks. she added in her head. But they were all so unnaturally handsome. Ginny examined the woman again, and she did look like someone who would attend such a school. She was very pretty indeed. She seemed bright as well, as she was indeed writing something when her paper got rudely blown from her hands. Ginny's train of focus was going until she heard her father's name. "Yes, I'm the only girl." she said with a smile. Having so many brothers wasn't that bad, but it often got annoying and privacy was never an option. "I've learned to...adjust." she said, thinking of the correct word to use for it. So many brother meant she had her own personal body guards bugging her about being careful and warning her not to court anyone and well...it wasn't fun. Six older brothers was something that most people would deem, rare? Almost absurd, since most people didn't have past two kids nowadays.
Ginny was flattered when she offered to change the color of her hair to Ginny's. "Oh, I don't mind..." she trailed off as she watched the dark hair turn into the same shade of red as her own. "Wow, that's so neat! You're a metamorphagus!" she said excitedly, only having met one other in her life. "My friend Tonks is a metamorphagus! Oh, that's so cool! Can you change other things as well? Eye color? Body parts?" Ginny was much too excited over this. During her time in 12 Grimmauld Place, Tonks had kept her entertained with her abilities, and they amused her to no end. She wasn't embarrassed at her outburst because she didn't even know the girl. She wasn't even aware of her name up until then. Just as she was going to ask, Alice introduced herself. "It's a pleasure meeting you." she said, a bit unsure what to do as Alice bowed and curtsied. Ginny tried to copy it and failed miserably, not being the most graceful girl to walk the planet. "I go in Flourish and Blotts several times. For text books and Christmas presents for Bill and my other brother Percy. I don't much like reading though, no offense." Books bored her; Ginny would rather be out doing something then sitting in her room reading a book. Percy was the one who liked books, Bill and Charlie too, but Percy was book obsessed. Nice summer days, all the Weasleys would be out playing Quidditch, and he would be sitting inside reading.
"Sure, you can go swimming in that." she pointed to the lake. "If you like Merpeople." Ginny absolutely hated the lake, and was suspicious of everything that lived in it. "Oh no, I'm not offended. I like being alone sometimes too. But I much prefer the secret corridor on the third floor of the castle." No one could ever find it but her. There were several places in Hogwarts where students could hide, and no one would ever find them. Ginny was lucky enough to have found one of those places. It was where she did her homework and wrote letters when the Common Room was too rowdy. "School's s'alright." She said with a shrug. She wasn't obsessed with grades and was certainly not going to be a prefect like Bill, Percy, Charlie, and Ron. No, her, Fred, and George were the odd ones out in that sense. It didn't bother her, however, Ginny liked being unique. They had already all been Gryffindor, but all of them being Gryffindor and Prefects? Now that would be too much. They all even played on the Quidditch team except Percy. Too many things ran in the family.
"Well, I was flying, you see," she pointed to the broom in her hand, "But I figured I'd get in loads of trouble." Ginny sighed and then looked curiously at Alice. She new about the Ministry interfering in the school? Word must travel fast. "They never allowed it. But I'm not exactly one to follow the rules." Her and Ron both had a problem with that, probably because they spent time with Harry Potter, who was the leader of rule breaking. "The Ministry sent in a pink toad. Her name is Umbridge." Ginny left it at that, willing to tell more if Alice asked.

Viktor Krum was an interesting character. Nice, but maybe just a tad flirty. He asked Hermione to the Yule Ball, even though she was just fourteen and he seventeen. Ginny had advised Mione to go, since he was a competitor and very cute also! Other than that, she didn't know that well of him except that he was very competitive in the Tournament, and that Ron had a weird obsession with him until Hermione went to the Ball with him. Technically, Krum was not the winner of the Tournament. However, Harry was really too young to compete, so his winning shouldn't have counted. Cedric passed away, so he didn't much count either. Viktor would have been the next to win, with poor Phlegm in last. She was too dainty to compete in something like the TriWizard Tournament anyway. "Da, Viktor." she said, accidentaly repeating Alice's word for 'yes'. "I mean yes." Ginny said with a chuckle. Ginny didn't know much about Durmstrang, so she listened intently as Alice described the school. "Dark?" If the school favoured the wealthy then the Weasleys most certainly would not have been accepted into the school. Alice said that she loved that weather; wasn't it like, freezing up in the mountains where the school was? Not many people enjoyed cold weather. "You like cold weather?" Ginny prefered something in between the the freezing cold and blistering heat of Egypt. England had nice mild temperatures most days, but it was also rainy and gross a lot of days. "I like...well days like today." It was about seventy, the sun was shining and there were very few clouds in the sky. A perfect day for riding. "A half brother that's five? That must be rough. My brothers can be squibs sometimes. Especially my brother Percy." she joked.
"Oh yes, my friend Tonks is a great Metamorphagus. She can do tons of brilliant things." Ginny bragged, recalling the times where Tonks would change into a person of Hermione and herself's choosing. When Alice started showing off her abilities, Ginny was enthralled. One second she was Ollivander, the wand maker, the next, she was Ginny herself. "It's like looking in a mirror!" she exclaimed. Ginny watched her own features change to different colors. Her hair went from red to black to blonde to brown, to crazy colors that Tonks often sported in her hair. Her eyes started changing colors as well. Ginny could easily say that she was happy with the traits she got, even though the black hair blue eyed change looked bloody brilliant. "That's amazing." Metamorphagi never seezed to amaze the young Weasley. "I wish I could do something cool to impress you." It would be cool to have a unique ability such as Alice's. But no, Ginny was just a boring teenager. "Do you know how to fly? To play Quidditch?" she asked, merely curious. Quidditch was one of her favorite things about Hogwarts.
When Alice changed into a kitten, Ginny laughed, covering her mouth. She had heard that once Hermione had changed herself into a cat when she put the hair of a cat in a polyjuice potion. Gin supposed this was what she must have looked like during that time. "Meow!" she said obnoxiously. After a few more animals, Ginny was laughing so hard she could barly breathe. The red head was fairly disappointed when she stopped, but knew Alice could only go on for so long. "Extremely creepy. No one would swim in that unless if it was the last thing he or she ever wanted to do." Ginny wasn't much of a swimmer. There was never anywhere for her to swim when she was a child, and she certainly didn't start swimming in the lake when she started attending Hogwarts. "I don't even know how to swim. But I'm certainly not learning in that." She eyed the dark water in a disgusted fashion. She turned back to Alice with amusement in her eyes. "Oh yes, a pink toad. Just a nickname I assure you. Otherwise, a pink toad wouldn't be a problem." There were several toads at Hogwarts, including Trevor, Neville's slimey little jumping thing. Ginny didn't like toads that much, nor really cats either (Crookshanks is a mischievous thing). However, Ginny loved owls because they were smart, gentle creatures. The young Weasley had yet to get a pet, but if she ever did, it would be an owl, or a pgymy puff, the adorable little creatures that Fred and George had made.
"The toad's name is Dolores Umbridge." Ginny continued. "She's from the Ministry. Terrible person. Pink. Rude. Obsessed with cats." Ginny picked up a stone and tossed it in the lake. "She's taking over the school. the Ministry is butting in, and they decided to bring her in to inspect everything." Which meant making the school a living hell and start firing professors that had been employed there for years. "She has a thing for making the most degradng rules. She's been firing teachers, or threatening to fire teachers, left and right." And we've formed an army to stop it. Ginny added in her mind. There was no way she was going to tell Alice that, no matter how nice she seemed. "She is completely evil."
