Astoria had a long day. Classes were a mess and she had a ton of homework to do. As she sat at her desk, she was starting to get a migraine. She set her quill down on the parchment and rubbed her temples. She was almost done, only having one parchment left to write. She needed a small break though, and also needed to get out of her jeans. She got up and walked over to her clothes. She decided on a pair of purple sweats and a pink tank top. After she changed, she sat back down at her desk and continued her essay.
With one last word, Astoria had finally finished her essay. She sat back and sighed, glad she got it all done and had the weekend free to do whatever. She rolled up her parchment and put it away, along with her books. She set everything down by her bed and laid down on it. It was then she realized she was definitely not tired. So, she decided to head down to the common room to see who all was down there. She headed out the door and out to the common room. She didn't see anyone out there, but she decided to sit down anyways and just chill by the fire. Maybe someone would come down and talk to her. Everybody was too busy these days and she hadn't seen any of her friends in quite some time. Of course, some of them annoyed her, so she didn't hang with them much anyways. Sighing to herself, she closed her eyes and laid her head back in the chair. [/justify][/blockquote]

blaise was growing bored of his routine. get up, get dressed, go to potions, skip charms like usual, and attend the rest of his classes in a semi conscious state. there was absolutely no fun this year; everyone was freaking out about OWLs. what was the big deal? they were bound to be fairly easy in everything but potions. that was the one thing blaise couldn't stand, mixing objects together to get a potion that would come as no use to you. all that would make blaise happy was getting at least an A on most of his examinations. which is probably all he would get, considering he wasn't studying like mad like the rest of his slytherin house. everyone was either absent from the common room completely, being in the library and such, or focusing so much on their books that they don't pay attention to anyone or anything around them.
instead of following draco around while he annoyed others, or listening to pansy's annoying voice, he strolled off on his own around the school. blaise checked in on his brand new broom in the quidditch pitch area, making sure it was still in perfect condition and no one had stolen it. his mother had bought it for him as a first day of school surprise, whatever that meant. all it was to him was a new chance at bragging about his wealth and proving that he was superior, which already came from his stance and demeanor. he wasn't like malfoy in the fact that he verbally bragged about his wealth. blaise merely wore expensive clothing and carried his broom everyone to show off. why be wealthy and not show it off? many of the people in this school were poor beyond belief. despicable. going to a school with poor people, not to mention muggles and blood traitors.
blaise finished his little stroll around the castle. he looked down at his new clothing that he had first worn today. he had casual boot-cut jeans that were tight, but not too tight. his white t-shirt showed off his muscles he got in quidditch. his shoes were some casual flip flops, but they were made out of leather. actually, they were killing his feet. he needed to go back to the common room to get new shoes on. blaise took off the flip flops and walked barefoot to the common room, and stopped when he saw a girl actually sitting in there. usually it was empty about this time of day, but there he saw the familiar figure in colorful sweats. he walked around to face her. "lucky fourth years. no OWLs to study for." he said to the figure on the chair, whose name was astoria.

As Astoria just sat there, she could hear Pansy up in the common room. She couldn't hear the conversation, but she was pretty sure she heard Drakie Poo. Resisting the urge to vomit, she lifted her head up continued to stare at the fire. She didn’t know why Pansy was so obsessed with Draco. The boy was pretty cute, but not enough to be crazy about. Some people were just plain crazy. She wasn’t the one to judge by blood status or house. She didn’t quite care for muggleborns or Gryffindors, but she gave everyone a chance. Most of them screwed their chances up though, and that really amused her. She knew she was better than most of them still. She had money, she was pureblood and a Slytherin to boot. She was doing pretty well for herself.
She then heard the common room door open She looked over and saw a barefoot Blaise and was slightly curious to why he was carrying his shoes and not wearing them. Noticing that they were flip flops, she finally understood why. Those were hell to wear, and even worse to break in. She scoffed at what he had to say. ”It doesn’t feel like I’m a fourth year. I did homework for about three hours straight tonight. I guess it’s preparing us for next year or something.”
Tori didn’t mind Blaise so much. He didn’t go out of his way to torment people, and that was a blessing in the group of people she hung out with. Draco was just too cocky and arrogant, Pansy and the other girls were annoying, and Crabbe and Goyle were just stupid. Blaise was her favorite Slytherin, besides herself and her sister. Which reminded her. She needed to find her sister at some point. She hadn’t seen her much all year. She came out of her thoughts and came back to the conversation that had started.

blaise studied her for a second. "i don't study. or do homework. and i do fine in all my classes. who cares about OWLs anyway? they're a bunch of rubbish." his feet had blisters on them. that won't do. he pulled out his wand, one that he was, as anything else, very proud of. it was fourteen inches with unicorn blood. it was strong and made of a very rare wood that he couldn't remember the name of. it was his grandfather's, who died when blaise was seven. he was one of the only people blaise actually liked and respected. blaise gave astoria a small smirk and pointed the wand at his feet. "not allowed to use magic outside of the classrooms..." he mumbled and shook his head while using a spell to clear up the marks on his feet. there was no way he was going down to the nurse's office to get something this small, yet painful, fixed.
blaise saw her looking at him with curiosity. "i like walking around barefoot." he said with a serious look on his face. "kidding. these flip flops really screw with my feet." he flexed them and examined them. his feet were back to how they were before. blaise sat on the couch near the fire, though he was sweltering hot. it was a solid seventy degrees outside, why was the fireplace on? blaise blew the fire out with another flick of his wand. "it's warm outside, you're in sweats, with the fire place on? did someone hex you, or are you naturally this cold?' he asked with an amused expression. he looked around the room for something to occupy his time. other than astoria, of course. he found a ball and brought it over to himself and bounced it up and down against the carpet.
"don't you have friends to spend time with? since your homework is done and all?" blaise figured she was popular enough. pretty, not very annoying, smart. he himself didn't like to befriend people; he believed most people were below him. therefore, he didn't busy himself with those kinds of people. blaise preferred spending time alone, but he knew he probably wasn't going to get it in the common room. astoria wasn't so bad though at all, so he considered himself lucky to find her there instead of pansy , crabbe, or goyle.

Astoria shrugged at what he had to say about not doing homework or anything. ”Yeah, true.” She watched as he took his wand out and rolled her eyes as he fixed the blisters on his feet. Some of the Slytherins amused her, others annoyed her. Well, maybe it was just Pansy and Millicent that annoyed her. Crabbe and Goyle amused her as well, but in a different way. It was always fun to see just what they would do next. They were only good to have around when you were having a bad day. Or just wanted to hit or yell at something. That always worked nicely. She did miss hanging out with Draco and Blaise, before Pansy became annoying and stalkerish.
”That tends to happen with flip flops, especially when you’re breaking them in. They kill my feet.” When he put out the fire, it was then she noticed it was pretty hot in the common room. She hadn’t really paid attention to anything. ”I guess I just didn’t notice. Now that you mention it though, it is hot in here.” She then rolled up her sweats and sighed in relief. She scoffed. ”Everyone is studying or out doing something else. Or annoying me. I’m taking a break from hanging out with girls. Far too much drama.” It was true. The only things those girls ever talked about were boys and how Potter and Dumbledore were lying. Oh, and about the Dark Lord. And then even more about boys. It was definitely good to get away. blaise gruffed at her agreement to not doing homework. most people thought he was stupid for not doing homework; his mother always told him he was going to fail. "i find my way around doing homework." blaise always did. he could always sweet talk his way out of it, or come up with a good excuse. he saw the look she gave him when he fixed up his feet. what was the big deal? there was no need for that rather amusing eye roll she gave him. "i see you rolling your eyes at me. i can't have these feet permanently damaged, now can i?" he flexed them a bit more before leaning back on the couch and closing his eyes for a second in quick meditation. there was nothing to do no one to reek havoc on. absolutely nothing. draco had been going nuts, and he wasn't much fun anymore. the bosos crabbe and goyle followed him around like little puppy dogs, and pansy was head over heals with him. it was disgusting. millicent had also been trying to hook up with blaise. it was all so repulsive.
"flip flops are rancid. but stylish." he studied his new leather pair. "leather. fifteen galleons at least, my mum told me." he proceed to toss them across the room. "a bunch of rubbish, if you'd ask me." blaise raised an eyebrow at her. she didn't notice that it was a sweltering hundred degrees or such in here? or at least to him it felt like it. then again, boys are hotter than girls, physically so that sort of made sense. "there is no less drama with the male population, i'm afraid." blaise shook his head. "everyone's been unnerving me lately. no time for anything. got to get at least E's on my exams or my parents will freak out. stupid excuses."

Astoria smiled a little bit. This was why she liked hanging out with Blaise. He didn’t just gossip and scream about things all day. He was a bit cocky about his wealth, but that was tolerable. Besides, she liked to boast about it on a rare occasion too. Having money without having to work for it was bloody awesome. She also had to agree about the shoes, so she gave a nod. She scoffed when he said boys are drama as well. ”Boys are not as bad as girls. At least boys don’t scream and talk as fast as the Hogwarts Express goes.” She used to love hanging out with Pansy and the other Slytherin girls, but it got to be too much for her. She was taking a break, letting all the Potter drama settle down and what not before going back to hanging out with them. In a way, she missed the girl talk, but the Draco talk was taking that over as well.
Shaking her head, she realized they needed a new subject to talk about. It then dawned on her what happened that day. She gave him a smirk. ”So I think I may have gotten on Potter’s good side today.” She knew he wouldn’t react well to this news, but she had a plan that she guessed he and Draco would absolutely agree with. ”I have a plan to which my “friendship” comes in handy. I could pretend to be helpful to them and get close to Potter.” She wasn’t one to come up with ideas, or hurt others in the process, but she really wanted to help their side. [/justify][/blockquote]

"i disagree. i've seen draco scream numerous times." he said with a grin. "and as for the talking, i'd rather have an intellectual conversation with someone speaking quickly, than have a male with the brain of a hippogriff talk to me normal speed." and most of the time he found his fellow 'friends' to fall into the second category about hippogriffs and normal speed talking. crabbe and goyle didn't have enough brains to talk fast, and blaise never let them forget it. blaise didn't even know why astoria, or even himself, spent time with pansy. she wasn't that bad when she wasn't with draco, but as soon as she opened her mouth, draco had the urge to shove his wand in his ears to drown out the noise. she was barely ever correct about anything, and barely knew what was going on most of the time. why, you ask? she's a bloody blabber-mouth. secrets are not her strong suit.
"you're treading in dangerous water, spending time with potter." blaise had nothing personally against him, but just about the rest of their House did. blaise wasn't the type to go out of his way to bother potter, like draco, crabbe, and goyle. it was a waste of his time. as astoria continued on he listened with and eyebrow raised. very curious, very curious indeed. "ah, so you aren't a goody-goody. we all assumed you were head over heels with potter." he looked bemused. "you've got me interested." blaise said quite plainly. plans like these usually didn't work, but since astoria looked like an innocent little girl, her plan could go very far. and be very fun on the way. annoying potter, the mudblood, and bloodtraitors could be amusing. he leaned forward on the couch. "tell me more."

The thought of Draco screaming made her laugh a little. It also scarred her a bit. She did not want to hear that, if she wanted to keep her sanity. When he said he’d rather have talking quickly than slow talking idiots, she shrugged. ”Yeah, well they’re fast talking idiots. So conversation is rather dreadful really.” It was. The topic of conversation would change so much, she often found herself getting whiplash from it all. Then, she would get a ridiculous headache from all the yelling and outbursts. It was too much for this girl. She thought Slytherins would be a lot quieter and only be rude to the faces of the people they disliked. Nope. That was way to simple. Everyone had to complicate things.
She nodded at Blaise’s warning. It was true. She was getting herself into something a little dangerous. The Weasley girl was suspicious, Granger and one of the twins were confused and she hadn’t had to deal with Ron yet. She wasn’t too thrilled about this because Ron knew how to convince Potter out of things. She then realized there were far too many Weasleys. ”Goody two shoes? Don’t associate me with Granger. I’m apparently smarter than that since I’ve got everyone fooled, even my own housemates. Not bad for a third year if I do say so myself.” She noticed how interested she was and smirked. She was proving to be a better Slytherin than she though she would. ”I haven’t gotten all the details worked out yet, which is why I’m telling you this. I’m hoping you and Draco could help me plan more. So far all I’ve got is get on good terms with Potter and eventually his friends to figure out what they’re up to and what he’s thinking. If I play my card correctly, I could possibly get him to fall for me.” [/justify][/blockquote]

"That's why I don't talk to girls. Hair, makeup, boys, all they talk about. Switching conversation every three seconds." Blaise usually kept clear of girls that had a tendency to be just downright stupid. With the exception of Pansy, but hey, what could you do when she followed Draco around like a whimpering, lost puppy? It was disgusting. And it was also part of the reason he did not have a girlfriend. With Blaise's easy charm and naturally good looks, he could have almost any Slythering girl he wanted. So far, he found none up to his standards, and he didn't expect to anymore. Girls just became more difficult and more whiney every year. Astoria was okay. She had some sense in her, and she spoke at a normal speed about normal things. It was an accomplishment that Blaise was talking to her for so long; he hardly found himself in a conversation, or at least one where he wasn't bored, or Malfoy was doing all the talking for him. That's what Blaise got for being the quiet one.
"I saw the Weasley girl giving you the most horrid look. And the Weasley boy freaking out. You have to watch out for them the most. Perhaps they aren't as stupid as they seem." Blaise absolutely despised the Weasleys. They were a bunch of breeding blood traitors. The one in their year, Ronald, was dumb as a doornail, and the clones were annoying. Pansy always teased her about the little girl, saying the he fancied her. This, of course, wasn't true. There was no way Blaise would ever like a blood traitor, no matter how pretty they were. I mean, even Hermione Granger wasn't bad looking, but she was a mudblood. Blaise would stick to people like Millicent (haha, yeah right), and Astoria (pretty, but too young for his taste).
"I would have thought you'd like to be associated with the mudblood. I've seen you talking to her. Perhaps you should have been in Gryffindor." She said with a slight chuckle. "Or maybe Hufflepuff. But they're not good for much, except finding things." Hufflpuffs were completely pointless. They couldn't even fight there own battles; Cedric Diggory died last year, but somehow Potter survived. Diggory was in his 7th year, and Potter in his 4th. How does that make any sense? "Oh, so now you say you're smart? Ravenclaw does seem like your type now that I think of it..." Blaise actually didn't have a problem with Ravenclaw in general; most people in that House kept to themselves and studied or whatever up in their common room. Besides, Blaise was a sucker for the color blue.
Blaise was amused by her plan. It was simple, yet clever. So simple that it could actually work. Astoria knew how to play the sweet and innocent card when she needed to. "Well, you have to be careful when consulting Draco. You know how...nosey...Pansy can be." He said with a grimace. "Well, aren't you going to the ball with Potter? Or perhaps you should ask him?" Blaise said with a shrug. He'd need more time to come up with more clever ways to get them together. "I could go if it'd help out. I would just need to find a date." Going t0 the dance alone? Highly unlikely! Going to the dance with a reasonable person? Even less likely!

”I’m a girl myself and I can’t even stay focused to what most girls talk about. I try, I really do. I’m not a hair and make up girl. I wear it yes, but that does not mean I should talk about it.” Astoria hated that. She really did. She hadn’t even known there were THAT many hair and make up products until she had sat down in a room full of girls. Which is why she didn’t do that too often. Pansy just followed Draco around. Really? What did that accomplish? Did she know she annoyed him and all his friends to no end? She sighed and shook her head. Some people would never learn.
She nodded to what he had to say. ”I’m sure the girl is just mad because I took her lover. You can tell she likes him. She just doesn’t want to admit it. The boy, I think, is the same way. Potter and I have been spending a lot of time together and I think he’s afraid of losing his best friend to me. Which I’m hoping will happen. They also don’t like me because I’m a Slytherin, but that’s a given. They associate me with Draco mostly. I’ve been telling them I’m not like him. Which is a little true actually. I don’t go out of my way to torment, but I still do. I’m watching out. I’m sure if this turns horribly wrong and he finds out, I’m going to have to ask you and Draco to help. Defend me you could say. I’m no match for the three of them and all their friends.”
Scoffing, she rolled her eyes. ”I was talking to her. We were talking about books. Better than make up, but still. I was hoping to get closer to her first so that way, she’d support Potter in all this. Make it look more convincible. And no, I’m glad to be in Slytherin. I belong here, thank you very much. Do you see a Hufflepuff fake being friendly to their enemy? Don’t answer that, they’re friendly to everyone. Bloody idiots.” The overly nice people of that house gave disgusted her. She shook her head out of those thoughts.
”Draco won’t tell Pansy. If she eavesdrops, I’ll spell her sorry ass to the Quidditch Pitch and back. I am going to the ball with him actually. No one really asked, we just said we’d see each other there. Bringing a dress did come in handy. My mum was actually right for once.” She would love to have Blaise there, just to make sure nothing went wrong. She couldn’t duel for herself against Potter’s friends. That would give her away. So, having him and, hopefully, her sister and Draco there would prove most useful. ”I think you should attend, just in case a fight ensues. I can’t fight against the Gryffindors, or I lose Potter’s trust.” She knew he could find a date for this. He was awesome like that. [/blockquote]

"Maybe you're a boy." he said with an amused cough. Blaise didn't have a girlfriend, not just because he was picky, but he wasn't exactly nice to the lot of them either. Just yesterday he had made Millicent cry by saying that she was fat. Blaise's philosophy was 'if it's true, I'm not afraid to tell you.' Pansy would have been gone years ago if Draco was more like that.Perhaps he should be more like that. He believed he spoke for everyone when Blaise said that no one wanted Pansy around. "I can't talk about hair and makeup, considering I don't have much hair," he said smoothing over his crew cut type hairstyle. It would grow long and poofy, almost like an afro, if it was long. "And as for makeup, can't say I have much use for that either." Blaise wearing makeup? That's laughable. Except for the fact that his mother used to put makeup on him when he was little because his mum always wanted a girl. However, no one knew of that, and no one would ever know of that as long as he could help it. "Yeah, you wear that pencil stuff on your eyes." He said, referring to eyeliner but not knowing what it was actually called. "And that lip goo." Blaise said, this time referring to lipgloss. Didn't girls know that it just wasn't pleasant having to kiss them with that crap on their lips?
"Mad? I would say furious. I've heard she's got a wicked temper." Ginny Weasley was much like her mother, he'd heard, in the fact that she was bloody scary when she was mad. "Ron Weasley doesn't want to lose his best guy mate." Blaise said with a shrug. More like his only guy mate... Ron wasn't the top of the popularity charts so to speak. However, Fred, George, and Ginny were. There always had to be a runt in the family, and Blaise assumed it was either him or Percy. "They associate us all with Malfoy." Malfoy was the loudest and the biggest git of the bunch, after all. "I'll help. Can't say I have anything better to do." That, sadly, was true. The school was rather boring with Umbridge around, and Blaise was debating on whether or not to join the Inquisitorial Squad just for something to do. "Potter does have a surprising amount of friends, doesn't he?" Friends, accomplises, people who idolize him, whatever. People only wanted to be friends with him because he was supposidly the 'Chosen One' and all of that rubbish.
"Books? That must of been such a riveting conversation." Blaise laughed. Granger sounded like such a bore, how could anyone be around her for long periods of time and not make fun of her? "Granger may not be as skeptical as the Weasleys, but she is more intelligent. Make sure she does not trick you." Blaise didn't know how clever the mudblood could be, but you never knew with people like her. "Hufflepuffs are only good for one thing. I'll go to one of them if I lose a textbook or something." It was true, that the only thing they were known for was being good at finding lost objects. How bloody lame was that? "My mum was Slytherin, not too sure about my dad though. Died before I was born." he said with a shrug. "Three of my stepdads were Slytherin though. Two went to Durmstrang, and one of them was a Ravenclaw." He said with disgust. All of his stepdads had been murdered died mysteriously. The crafty Slytherin never got close to any of them anyway, so he wasn't heartbroken as each one died.
"You'd better hope Malfoy keeps his mouth shut on this one." He smiled at her urgancy in saying she'd kick Pansy's arse, to put it bluntly. "Now that's not very nice. Tisk tisk. Using your powers on her" He said playing with his wand. "Incendio." He lit the fireplace quickly (I can't remember if it was already lit). "A dress, eh? Then I have to wear a suit." He said as more of a question than a statement. "I'll ask Cassie Prescott. She's hot- cute. And smart." He said with a shrug. Blaise had actually had his eyes on her for awhile, but hadn't made a move yet.

Astoria gave Blaise a glare. ”Yeah, that’s it Blaise. I’m a bloke.” She rolled her eyes, but gave a smile anyways. She knew he was just trying to be funny. She had to give a laugh when he said he couldn’t talk about hair and make up because he had no hair and he was a boy. They could still wear make. She tried to envision Blaise with make up on, but couldn’t because she knew no one would ever be able to get him to put any on. She nodded at the eye liner bit. ”Yeah, I usually only wear eyeliner and chap stick, unless there’s a formal occasion or I just get bored waiting for something to do. I figure if a guy should like you, they should like you for who you are, not what you look like. Looks are just an added bonus. Unless someone’s really ugly. Then, no way.” It was a little rude, but true.
Astoria shrugged. ”Tempers aren’t always bad things. People with bad tempers tend to do things without thinking, or aiming. The fire aimlessly, so all you have to do is dodge them. With my athletic ability, should be fairly simple to avoid her hexes. And the boy, yeah, he’ll calm down once Granger talks to him. Anybody can tell they have a thing, except each other. It’s ridiculous really, but if I can get on her good side, she’ll talk Weasley out of being mad. Viola! I’m in.” She had been hanging out with them too much. She knew them too well. This was the idea though. Know their every moves and figure out their weaknesses. She already knew Ron hated spiders from the stories Harry had told her. They were quite amusing actually. When Blaise said he’d help, she gave him a curious look. ”Are you really that bored? If you’d like, you can help. What will you do though?”
She scoffed. ”I won’t be tricked by Granger. Though, I will be slightly afraid of her if this backfires. She’s very smart and knows spells that I definitely do not. I will admin, I will be a little frightened if this goes wrong and she comes after me.” It was true. The rest of his talk of houses she just rolled her eyes and giggled slightly at. This boy was a weird one sometimes with the stuff he talked about it. When he spoke about Draco and keeping his mouth shut, she nodded. ”I’ve already spoken with him and he knows to keep quiet. And using magic on her would make my day a lot more amusing. It’s always fun to pick on her.” She watched as he lit the fire and she was glad for that. She was starting to get cold. When he said he’d be there, she let out a sigh of relief. When he said he would ask Cassie and why, she rolled her eyes. ”You do what you wish sir.”
